Final: Islanders 2, Bruins 1: The Bruins stay atop the Northeast Division standings was a short one after dropping a 2-1 loss to the Islanders before a TD Garden crowd of 17,565. The B's managed just two attempted shots, with none finding the net, in the last 1:23 after pulling Tuukka Rask (34 saves) in lieu of an extra skater. Little good it did the Bruins, though.

Second intermission: Islanders 2, Bruins 1 The Islanders took the play to the Bruins in the second outshooting Boston, 18-8, in the period. Through two periods, the Islanders outshot the Bs, 28-24. Bailey picked up his second goal of the night (and ninth of the season) on a softie that got past Rask whent he puck trickled off his left skate and across the goal line. It was that kind of period for the Bruins.
Islanders 2, Bruins 1, 13:12: Josh Bailey scored his second goal of the game and ninth of the season he broke into the attacking zone unassisted after turning over Adam McQuaid in the neutral zone and winning a puck race. Bailey's shot on net trickled off Rask's left skate and across the goal line.
Islanders 1, Bruins 1, 10:02: Splayed on his stomach in front of the net, Rask makes a brilliant save, stopping Matt Moulson, who missed on his goal-mouth whack, hitting Rask on his facemask. Since the start of the second period, the Islanders have outshot the Bruins, 14-4.
Islanders 1, Bruins 1, PPG, 3:41: With 34 seconds left on the man advantage, Tyler Seguin struck on a beautiful, harsh angle power-play tally from the left wing.Seguin converted a cross-ice pass goal-mouth pass from Gregory Campbell, who had relayed a neutral zone pass from Jaromir Jagr. It was Seguin's 14th goal of the season.
PENALTY: Islanders, 2:15: Brad Boyes put the Bruins on the man advantage for the first time in the game when he was sent off to serve a delay-of-game minor.
First intermission: Islanders 1, Bruins 0 Game 40 of the Bruins' lockout-shortened season did not get off to a good start after the B's surrendered a late Josh Bailey goal at 19:40 to allow the Islanders to take a 1-0 lead into the room after the first period. The Bruins outshot the Islanders, 16-9, in the first.
Islanders 1, Bruins 0, 19:40: Rask almost made it out of period unscathed until, that is, he was beaten top shelf by Josh Bailey's sniper shot from the left wing. Mark Streit carried the puck with speed from the neutral zone and teed it up for Bailey, who tallied his eighth goal of the season.
Bruins 0, Islanders 0, 18:55: Tuukka Rask made a brilliant stop on John Tavares's wraparound bid, which left the Islander assistant captain crestfallen.
PENALTY: Bruins, 12:26: David Krejci puts the Islanders on the man advantage for the first time of the night when he is sent off for tripping Travis Hamonic, who had to be helped off the ice. Bruins' PK erased the penalty.
Bruins 0, Islanders 0, 9:26: Jordan Caron had an apparent goal waved off after he appeared to knock home juicy rebound of Chris Kelly's goal-mouth whack against Evgeni Nabokov. The puck hit the right post, but did not cross the goal line. No goal.
