During a TV timeout at 10:39 of the third period Thursday night, the Bruins paid tribute to their former goalie Tim Thomas with a video presentation. It showed some of Thomas’s best stops – his stick save on Tampa Bay’s Steve Downie was a highlight – and a glimpse of the goalie lifting the Stanley Cup.

After the video, the scoreboard showed Thomas, now a member of the Panthers, sitting in the press box. The TD Garden crowd cheered, along with Thomas’s former teammates and coaching staff. Thomas stood to acknowledge the ovation.

Thomas did not dress for the game. He is rehabbing a groin injury.
