The Bruins announced Monday night that they had recalled defenseman Kevan Miller on an emergency basis from Providence of the AHL.

Miller had just been sent back down to Providence on Thanksgiving after making his NHL debut Nov. 21 and appearing in three games with the Bruins, also on an emergency recall after the injury to Dennis Seidenberg.

In those three games, Miller played well, earning praise from coach Claude Julien for solid play in the defensive zone. He had two shots and 17:27 average ice time in the three games.

There was no indication why Miller was recalled Monday, though it is possible that Seidenberg or Adam McQuaid tweaked something in the game on Saturday. McQuaid played just 13:45 against Columbus.
