Well, this is just getting out of hand now.
One night after Shawn Thornton sprayed Montreal defenseman P.K. Subban with a water bottle from the bench in the waning minutes of Boston's Game 5 win over the Canadiens Saturday night (and the same day Thornton was thus fined by the NHL for doing so), New York Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist was caught giving Pittsburgh's Sidney Crosby a little squirt in the midst of a squirmish that took place at the end of the second period of New York's win Sunday evening.
Surely, Lundqvist should expect a fine in the same amount as the $2,820.52 that the Bruins forward was forced to cough up for his indiscretion.
Don't expect anything supplemental (including fine) from player safety on Crosby stick jab at Moore's groin or Lundqvist water bottle squirt— Tom Gulitti (@TGfireandice) May 12, 2014
Clearly this is a sign that the league needs to crack down on water bottles in the presence of the game...or something.
The Rangers and Penguins will play Game 7 of their playoff series Tuesday night.
