After the Canadiens won the battle, there was a war of words at the Garden.
Dale Weise, who got the Habs off and running with a goal just 2:18 into the game, said Lucic didn't show any class during the postgame handshake.
"Milan Lucic had a few things to say to a couple of guys," Weise said. "You look at guys like Shawn Thornton who has been around this league and plays hard and he plays that role and he had good things to say to everybody. He won with class and Milan Lucic just couldn't do that. Well, I won't get into what he said, it's just poor, it's a poor way to lose."
Lucic furiously fired back at Weise in his postgame comments.
"Itís said on the ice so itíll stay on the ice," Lucic responded. "So if he wants to be a baby about it, thatís Ė he can make it public."
Lucic was asked if there was any disrespect between the two teams, as the Canadiens have charged.

"Disrespect? I donít know what theyíre talking about, disrespect," Lucic said. "Having a goal celebration Ė what kind of disrespect is that? I mean, Iím not going to say anything. Iíve got nothing to say about that."
Lucic was blunt when asked about failing to advance after coming into the playoffs with such high expectation as the best team in the Eastern conference.
"It sucks. Thatís it. It sucks," Lucic said. "There were high expectations, we wanted to get back there, and we felt like we had a good enough team to win and we didnít."
Lucic spoke about his emotions after the loss.
"Itís frustrating," he said. "I donít know what else to say. We lost. We let our fans down. We had a great opportunity with a team like this, and like I said itís a tough one to swallow."
Lucic was asked if the Bruins effort level at the start of the game was costly tonight.
"Thatís why we lost," he said. "Thatís why we lost Ė I canít elaborate more on it Ė thatís why we lost."
Lucic spoke more about the disappointing loss that ended the Bruins season.
"Itís unfortunate, the way it has to end," Lucic said. "I mean, we got ourselves up 3-2 in the series and were unable to get the job done -- especially with the group that we had here and the season we were able to put together. Itís going to be tough to swallow this one and deal with it for the rest of the summer."
Lucic was asked if he was frustrated with the penalties that were called in Game 7.
"Definitely," he said. "But, canít change it now."
