Bruins to Open 2014-15 at Home Against Flyers

For the fourth year in a row, the Bruins will open up their season at the TD Garden.

The date will be Oct. 8 and the opponent is the Philadelphia Flyers, whom the Bruins hosted in the 2011-12 opener in which they raised their first Stanley Cup banner in 39 years. The NHL announced the home openers of every team on Saturday.

Other games scheduled for Opening Night on Oct. 8 include the Stanley Cup champion Los Angeles Kings hosting the San Jose Sharks; the Montreal Canadiens visiting the Toronto Maple Leafs; and the Calgary Flames welcoming the Vancouver Canucks.

Following their opening game, the Bruins will immediately travel to Detroit to take on the Red Wings in their home opener on Oct. 9.

The full schedule for the 2014-15 season will be announced on Sunday, according to the NHL. The Bruins’ preseason schedule was released on Friday.
