The Boston Bruins will be featured on 17 national broadcasts on NBC and NBC Sports Network during the 2014-15 season, including the Oct. 8 season-opener against the Philadelphia Flyers, and seven appearances on the network’s Wednesday evening-branded “Rivalry Night.” Twelve of the games will be exclusive, according to the national schedule released Tuesday by the NHL, while the other five will be available locally on NESN.

In addition to the season-opener, the Bruins’ Wednesday night appearances will be against the Red Wings (Oct. 15), Maple Leafs (Nov. 12), Wild (Dec. 17), Penguins (Jan. 7), Rangers (Feb. 4), and Capitals (April 8). Yes, the Wild are apparently considered a “rival.” Sorry, Habs.

Also of note, the Bruins' traditional "Black Friday" matinee, the day after Thanksgiving will not be televised nationally. NBC will begin its coverage on that day with Rangers-Flyers instead of Jets-Bruins. It's the first time a team other than Boston has gotten that time slot.

Here’s the complete national schedule for Boston, including four “flex” games which could appear on either NBC or NBCSN at the network’s choosing:

Wednesday, Oct. 8 vs. Philadelphia at 7:30 p.m.
Wednesday, Oct. 15 at Detroit at 8 p.m.
Tuesday, Oct. 28 vs. Minnesota at 7 p.m. (non-exclusive)
