Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis told NECN there will be 9,000 additional runners in the 2014 Boston Marathon field.
The Boston Athletic Association said, “Not so fast”, and the organization continues to work with towns and cities along the route on logistics for the 2014 race.
Runners around the world want to participate in next April’s event as a show of solidarity and resiliency after the Marathon bombings.
And they are eagerly awaiting official word about field size and registration procedures.
Field size will go a long way toward determining how fast qualifiers must run to gain guaranteed entry into the 2014 race.
