Four-time Boston Marathon winner Bill Rodgers unveiled the 2011 Boston Marathon street banners today, the unofficial kickoff for marathon activities.
“It’s always an honor to raise the John Hancock banners,” Rodgers said through a press release from John Hancock, the race sponsor. “When people see the banners in March, there is a buzz that moves through the city since everyone knows the Marathon is right around the corner. I believe a lot of Bostonians and die-hard running fans are counting down the days until Marathon Monday.”
The 115th Boston Marathon will be held on April 18.
