So long, Grady

After two years, 188 regular season wins, and a trip to the American League Championship Series, the Red Sox have parted ways with Grady Little. Are the Sox making the right move? Who should get his job?

I think it is a tough call, the "non" moves by Grady in the 8th inning and letting a Knuckleballer pitch in a tough position will be magnified for many years to come. To be honest I am sick of hearing about it. We may be better off bringing him back with management's support and seeing what he does, then we will know if he is or not. If they replace him I think I prefer Glenn Hoffmann.

I wanted him fired since the Philadelphia game when he pitched twice to Thome and gave up HRs. He can't manage in game situaitons. Managing is more than keeping them happy and writing out a lineup card. He is the reason the Sox are not world champs. So long Grady knows Little, don't let the door hit you on the way out.

Ted, Geneseo

I feel that Grady is responsible for the Red Sox losing that amazing game 7 of the ALCS. However, he was also responsible for them getting that far and having such good team chemistry. I don't believe its fair that he is going to be fired, probably because of that one decision. Since he will not be returning, i feel that Jery Remy should be the new coach. He knows the game very well and is extremely passionate about the Red Sox winning.

Grady Train Leaving The Station Grady was an excellent manager for a Jamesian club. He had and maintained good relationships with the players and created an amazingly positive environment. Somehow, he failed to notice what the rest of us KNOW - Pedro ain't great after 100 pitches! Key in the next manager is the ability to nurture playres and stand in the media maelstrom and deflect criticism. bring in the REMDAWG!

kenneth, brookline

To those who want Remy as manager: are you kidding? Why don't we just make Trot Nixon player/manager? Would that satisfy you and your ignorant WEEI-fueled outlook? These are the same fools that chant Yankees (stink) at Detroit Tigers games. I'm a huge Sox fan, proud to wear my red and blue while living in the Empire's turf. But we need to evolve and actually make some baseball sense when talking baseball. I want to always be proud of being a Sox fan.

Grady doesn't bat or throw the ball,he is the scapegoat.I thought he did a great job with the sox.Being a yankee fan i thought the world series had to be the yankees and the red sox series,i also think Florida has a scrappy ball club,no big contracts just kids loving to play the game, just as i remember it being played.Money has destroyed the game to many big bucks being paid for loafers.

Grady, is you bullpen fresh for Game 8?

Mark, Somerville

One game from going to the World Series and he gets fired. Are we becoming the Yankees? They better come up with something better than some retread that got fired somewhere else.

Tim, Nashville,TN

Anyone who would sit Todd Walker and Jason Varitek in the playoffs should have been fired on the spot. Adios Grady.

Brad, Chattanooga,TN

I will miss Grady. For the many members of the Red Sox Nation who no longer live in New England, Grady's tenure was exciting and rewarding. ALL managers, as well as all people, make mistakes. Unfortunately, when we make mistakes, we can fix them without much harm. When Grady made his, they were broadcast to millions with no hope of repair. All we can do is wait until next year because that's what we do best as Red Sox fans. As for the next coach? I'll do it for 1/3 the money.

Peter, Tampa, Florida
