So long, Grady

After two years, 188 regular season wins, and a trip to the American League Championship Series, the Red Sox have parted ways with Grady Little. Are the Sox making the right move? Who should get his job?

Who really cares who gets the job!! Why would any mananger want to come to Boston. Let's not blame Nomar and his pathetic playoff, Let's not blame Pedro 17 milliion for 14 wins and 1 win in the post season. Let's not listen to the players who most all said they would like to see Grady return No let's listen to Red Sox nation. I am sure that is the message that prospective managers want to hear. and as for Leo I guess the puppet talk when he was first hired may be true after all.

This is horrendous. How can you fire a manager that came 5 outs away from the World Series. Management made a seemingly unfounded emotional decision that will prove to be a step backwards for this team. The fans have a right to be angry at Grady but Management does not and failed in its task to establish some consistency around here. We need a clubhouse guy - Grady is that guy - it's well documented that this team will only play for who they want to play for. Why change?

Questionable move. 90+ wins and a chance at the series is commendable. With time, he would have delivered. Bobby Valentine!!!!!!!!!!

Althought the ALCS game 7 gaffe is unforgiveable, I am appreciative of the job Grady did late this season, especially in the handling of Manny Ramirez prior to the Philadelphia make up game. He seemed to command respect for that move and that game helped propel the Sox into the postseason. But he left Pedro in in the 8th. I am appreciative of the back-to-back 90 win seasons and the heart the team showed in the comeback in the ALDS. But he left Pedro in in the 8th. I am appreciative of the way Grady managed through the bullpen by committee debacle and made moves, by and large, at the right times to put the best team on the field. But... If he goes to the pen in the 8th in that game 7, we're talking about free agency and how far the team will go in 2004. Instead we're having to start anew....again...and that's unfortunate.

Bye, bye Grady! You still don't understand that YOU had to make the biggest decision of your career, and you passed the responsibility to Pedro. I hope never find another job where YOU have to make a big decision, you coward!

Goodbye and good ridence Grady Little. This was our year. We had our ticket to the World Series stamped and we were prepping Fenway for game 1. The first World Series game in our city in 17 years. But you had a brain cramp. Brain cramps can be forgiven in certain situations. However, not in this one. You go ahead and believe that you did such a wonderful job, and made enough good decisions to get the Sox to game 7 of the ALCS. But the team won in spite of you, not because of you. They were powerless to overcome your incomprehensible decision to leave a pitcher on the mound who had nothing left in his tank, regardless of what he told you. Had he told you the moon was made of green cheese, would you have patted him on the back and said "ok Pedro, I believe you, now go get me 3 outs"?? You had strong reliable arms in the pen who had been lights out in the post season. There was no reason not to rely on them for 6 more outs. Yet you did not, and for this, you deserve to pay the ultimate price. Goodbye Grady, don't let the gol'dang door hit you in the rump on the way out.

you know maybe the sox's could win a title if they would not get rid of good people all the freaking time. I love my sox's and feel Grady has done a great JOB, and to lose him reminds me of when we Let Bruce Hurst go, how long did it take to recover because we all know the loss of him was when Roger got restless. Well I will always love my SOX'S but when will the team wake up and keep the good players and quit playing for that ONE year.

i think bill buckner should be the coach, : )

i think grady does not belong here he became captured in the moment at yankee stadium and didnt talk to any of his coaches to ask their thoughts and never ever go on what a pitcher tells you ask the catcher your coaches and then over all of that realize that this is or was the best chance in 17 years to go to and possibly win, against a team we demolished at fenway during reg season, the world series. but no he made a dumb move along with many others in the entire season this was just the biggest news grabber. so long grady we should welcome mr bochy into town nickly we need small baseball in beantown thats what wins ask the marlins.

Sadly, the obsession with winning the world series overshaows a great season. We have played well as a team, won more games than we were expected to, shown character, and hugely entertained the nation. Remember we are the 3th or 4th ranked team in the country. That is an achievement that should ensure that the manager is given an extension, not the sack. This is a sad state of affairs. What does this "number one or nothing" teach our young ballplayers.
