So long, Grady

After two years, 188 regular season wins, and a trip to the American League Championship Series, the Red Sox have parted ways with Grady Little. Are the Sox making the right move? Who should get his job?

Here we go again - bad move to let him go... Will Red Sox ownership/front office ever learn? A replacement? - Well, since they obviously don't care about clubhouse chemistry they should interview Bobby V. ...

AWWWW so long Bubba Grady may you find annother club to make the worst bulpen calls i've ever seen( and it has nothing to do with pedro and game 7) NEXT

Jim Leyland or Mike Stanley. Leyland took the Marlins to their first World Series championship with big egos like Gary Sheffield and Kevin Brown leading the way. He handled them, he can handle Pedro and Manny. I hope he is tough enough to handle Boston! Mike Stanley, understands the Boston market, understands pitchers especially Pedro. Is young enough to identify with players. Understands what the Sox-Yankee feuds are all about and can communicate to the media. Is he tough enough with players he once played with?

My thoughts are this; I don't blame Little altogether I blame the hitters for a lot of their misfortunes in the 7th game. how many men were left on base in scoring position only to die there because during that game we lacked a timely hit? can you blame Little for that? Where was the one hit that could have saved this game for us? I've been a true dye in the wool fan for 70 years and will continue to be. I LOVE THE RED SOX. I hate to admit it but you have to credit the Yankees for hitting when they needed it. We need one top notch lefty pitcher who can beat the Evil Empire and strenghten the bullpen with a first class closer, I know it will be hard but that's your job, lets do it. !!!!!!!!!! sincerely A True Red Sox Fan

Grady did an excellent job with the players and they all respected him as a manager. Baseball is rarely won or lost on mangers decisions, but game 7 was lost on his decision. Playing "hunches" and playing the numbers are probably equally effective because the players must execute. The red sox lost some games this season due to "questionable" moves by grady, and won some games despite them. What it all comes down to is that the boston fans will torment the guy for the rest of his life, and will make it as unpleasent as possible. No one can be expected to work under the conditions he would face.

The move not to pick up Grady Little's contract is absolutely the right move. Regardless of the 188 wins over two seasons, he didn't make a decision when it counted. This is why he's paid the big money; to make cirtical managerial decision at the most critical of times. He didn't. So you have to cut him loose. I can applaud his decision to want to leave Pete out there. He's the guy you want out there in that type of situation. However, Pete clearly didn't have his stuff in the late innings and being the competitor he is, he's not going to tell skip that he want's to come out of the game. That's where Grady had to step up as a manger and make the decision to pull and turn it over to bully that had been holding their own over the course of the postseason. As far as a Little's replacement, I like what Jim Fergosi could bring to the table. He's been in the big game situation. He's handled a multitude of clubhouse personalities in the the early 90's Phillies teams, and he's a good baseball guy. With that said, the front office should make a decision without first giving a call to the 70 year old white rat, Whitey Herzog. As the Florida Marliins have just proven, the ability of the elder McKeon to coach a group of young guys with success raises some question.

So long Grady, you deserve better than what you got from the team and the fans. I wasn't embarrased by the way our season ended and I was sure proud of the entire season but the firing Grady has made me embarassed to be a Red Sox fan. No stability in the dugout as usual and unhappy players once again. It's the first time that I have come to see the fans as part of the problem of why we blow it every year. Be happy Grady haters, you got what you wanted but when we blow next year, and players leave you remember why and that you are partially to blame for this.

I THINK THAT GETTIN RID OF GRADY WAS DUMB. HE BRINGS U ALL THE WAY HERE NOW HE IS DONE JUST BECAUSE THEY DONT WIN IT. THIS ISNT THE YANKEES WHERE IF U DONT WIN U GET RID OF THE TEAM. I LIKE GRADY HE DID A GREAT JOB WITH THE PLAYERS HEY THEO U R AN ASSHOLE

For lack of a better term this move is absolutely BS. First of all where has Larry Luchino been during all this mess and if certain people in the Red Sox management have problems with Grady Little then why don't they come out and state the differences. For God's sake, the guy got a mere two years at the helm of the Sox, and although I know that the MLB is all about immediate results aka championships, the man was 24 and 28 games above five hundred in his two years. That is much better than most of his predecessors, and he is well liked by the Sox clubhouse. There wasn't much talk of this prior to the playoffs or even the controversial move with Pedro, I do not believe there is any right by anyone to blame this on a upper management conflict of interests. Grady Little took a team with a middle of the road starting pitching staff and a high paid, little result bullpen all the way to a Game 7 with the top team in the league.I think that it is a travesty let Little go on these such terms and I hope for the sake of spite he goes on to another managing job and achieves major success. I will support Grady Little every step of the way.
