So long, Grady

After two years, 188 regular season wins, and a trip to the American League Championship Series, the Red Sox have parted ways with Grady Little. Are the Sox making the right move? Who should get his job?

Roger Clemens would be the man for the job

Grady is a players manager and that will effect the chemistry of the team for a little while next season. At the same time, his decision making on the field were often questionable. He and the team kept us entertained to the very end and for that I am greatful. Thanks Grady & Bon Chance...

Grady Little was a good clubhouse manager, but lousy with the X's and O's... He was not fired because of his terrible decision in game 7, but rather because of the string of similar decisions throughout his tenure in Boston...

I don't think the Red Sox should have fired Grady Little. He played a big part in the team's success the last two seasons. Yes, I do think he should have pulled Pedro sooner, but I'm not judging him on one game. Who, right now, is available to manage this club that will bring us to the next level?

Scott, Cumberland, RI

People who think Grady was fired for one bad decision are wrong. Management had doubts about him which is why they never picked up his option before. I agree with Joe from Brighton who suggested that the main reason for the Sox success was the moves by Theo Epstein. Grady kept a harmonious clubhouse which is a considerable accomplishment, but he really shows a lack of baseball smarts. One game in July Ortiz had a two-run double with no outs. It was a close game, Ortiz was their hottest hitter and was guaranteed of having one more at bat, and then Grady pulls him for a pinch-runner...with NO OUTS!!! His leaving Pedro in was just the most recent and most noticed blunder which he compouded by trying to defend it. If he had taken Pedro out and the bullpen faltered that was have been painful but tolerable since that was the correct move. There ARE NO guarantees.

Another step backwards for the Sox!!! Go Yanks!!!

Grady got a raw deal, 188 wins in 2 seasons is pretty darn good, by any other market's standards, saving of course, Boston and New York.

Matt, Malden

Gimme a break....Grady Little gets a raw deal here. He should stay. He's a player's manager and good for the team. The new owners practice patience and will look hypocritical if they fire Grady. Thinking of past debacles with McNamara and Clueless Walpole Joe -- they're the ones who should have gotten the axe sooner than Grady! Get over it, he's a good manager and should stay. Give Grady a a contact extension and a 2nd chance!

It seems as if the Sox STILL cannot learn anything from the NY Yankees. Torre lost the World Series in 2001, didn't even make it in 2002 and still had a job in 2003. Sox managment is responding impulsively to an overly emotional fan base. Little was the only one who commands the respect of his clubhouse and can manage all of the prima donas on that team. Now who are the prospects? Nobody! Looks like we can look forward to yet another 2nd place finish in the AL East. Way to go, Sox!
