After two years, 188 regular season wins, and a trip to the American League Championship Series, the Red Sox have parted ways with Grady Little. Are the Sox making the right move? Who should get his job?

Page 26 Who is next? Fergosi, Randolph (to piss off George!), Leyland, or Hoffman? Ben, Guatemala The Red Sox need a manager who has proven himself at the major league level. Also, he should be someone who knows how to handle pitchers, (both starters and bullpen). The new manager should be someone who does rely on statistical data when making moves on the field. Sometimes "gut-instinct" isn't enough.... Finally, you need someone who fully understands the passion of Red Sox fans and also can deal with the scrutiny of the Boston media Pete, Laguna Niguel,CA How quickly we forget....When the Sox do their usual summer collapse next year, and the locker room is full of malcontents, we'll all wish ol' Grady was back. David, Washington, DC Sox are making the right move. Could have been avoided if Grady's actions different in Game 7. Impossible for Grady to manage here any longer. My choice: Dave Lopes. Have known Davey since I played against him in high school. He was smart and tough even then. He'd be the best choice at this time. Bill, Warwick Over the long season, Grady did a good job. Sox fans have to stop being so cruel to those who make a mistake. It's just a game!!! The fans behavior and harsh attitudes is the reason many players won't come to Boston. Grady didn't lose the game....the team did. Rich, Norton This was a no-brainer. The Game 7 disaster only highlighted a season of awful decisions. The manager of this team needs to understand the bulllpen committee, and he needs to at least understand the fact that he needs to commit to the sabermetric tendencies of the front office. It does not matter who replaces him, as long as it's a lackey who will do exactly what Theo Epstein tells him to do. Jonathan, Cambridge, MA Carlton Fisk, Remy, Mike Hargrove are all possibilities. Charles, Chelmsford Who knows how vital a role a manager plays in the success of a major league baseball team. However, the one move of cowtowing to an immature Martinez and leaving him in game #7 would never be forgiven by the rabid Red Sox Nation. Henry, Epstein, etc. had no choice. Leaving Little at the helm for the '04 season would have created a bitter schism between the team, fans and press. I only wish that a guy like Tony LaRussa was available for the job. Jack, Irvine, CA It is a sad day in Boston sports!!!! Grady Little brought to Boston the most exciting team that Boston has seen in Years. The fact that Boston did not make the World Series is a minor point when you think about all that the Red Sox and Grady Little have accomplished this year. The fact that the Red Sox made it to Game 7 is in and of itself a fantastic accomplishment. Boston Red Sox Corporation should be ashamed of themselves for letting Grady go. Maybe they should consider taking lessons from the Florida Marlins Management who actually treat there staff with dignity and respect. Grady Little you are probably better off away from Boston as you clearly were not shown a bit of respect or appreciation. Best of luck to you as I know you will do an excellent job wherever you end up, and thank you for bringing Boston sports to a new level of excitement. John, Theo and Larry good luck with your search, even though you just lost one of the best coaches the Red Sox have ever had. Randall, Nantucket It's time for a change, the Red Sox made the right move today. Jerry Remy for manager!!!
