So long, Grady

After two years, 188 regular season wins, and a trip to the American League Championship Series, the Red Sox have parted ways with Grady Little. Are the Sox making the right move? Who should get his job?

I am from an old and disappearing school, I guess, that I would like to see some medium term continuity from the club. I am tired of all of the experts from outside of the club (media/fans) having the ability to affect the play and constitution of the team. They were a great group of guys this year, and the Yankees worst nightmare is that the same guys with some more starting pitching and perhaps solidification in the bullpen, show up again. They know they will not have that amazing starting pitching they had this year. Why can't we just let this team grow with a good attitude instead of tearing it down every year and creating more attitude cases. New York gets a kick out of this, they must.

Sox are definitely making the right move. Game 7 was the straw that broke the camels back. He has been marginal in his calls all year and finally one came back to bite him. He is better off as a bench coach. He was good with the players but he isn't there to be their friends he is there to win and make the right calls. Good luck to him. Give Bud Black a shot. He has done well in Anaheim and I always liked him as a player. Leave Remy in the booth

THE RED SOX LOST BECAUSE THE PITCHING WAS NOT GOOD ENOUGH. GRADY LITTLE HAD FAULTS AS A MANAGER--THEY ALL DO BUT HE WAS ABLE TO KEEP THE CLUB TOGETHER IN THE CLUB HOUSE. NOT AN EASY TASK. ESPECIALLY IN BOSTON. IF YOUR TALENT CAME THIS CLOSE TO A WORLD SERIES I THINK YOU SHOULD MAKE THE IMPROVEMENTS THAT PUT YOU OVER THE TOP. NOW THERE WILL BE TWO THINGS TO WORRY ABOUT THIS WINTER. WILL THE CLUB BE ABLE TO MAKE THE RIGHT PERSONNEL MOVES AND WILL THE PLAYERS PLAY FOR THE NEW MANAGER. THERE WAS ONE PROBLEM--LACK OF PITCHING NOW THERE ARE TWO!

I enjoyed every single game this past season.Grady Little was admired by his players and by fans alike. Thanks Grady for your hard work and effort. I wish you well where ever you go.

It is making me very upset. It wasn't what he did in the playoff game, it is what he did all season. He does not know how to manage his pitching staff. I have called him dolittle all year. He is a nice person, but not a manager.

All of you people whining about Little being fired suffer from the same problem he does - thinking with emotion rather than logic and facts. Given that they had chosen not to extend is contract, it's pretty clear that only by beating the yankees and perhaps winning the world series, was the only way he could save his job. Ironically, the last in a series of incompetent moves ultimately lead to his own demise............

There have been very legitimate gripes raised with Mr. Little's decision to leave Pedro on the mound. When I look at the big picture, however, I think he desreved to keep his job. Why? Throughout this whole season, including the many ups and downs and the Manny contraversies, that team stuck together. I think too little is made of teamwork nowdays in professional sports. That team played like a team, there was no animosity, these guys really cared for each other, they supported each other, they stuck together. Grady Little fostered this culture and I believe he could win a world title with it. With there team attitude, they were able to get the most out of their significant talents. How many talent laden teams in the history of pro sports accomplished squat because they were poorly lead and had a bunch of indivduals?

Since when does a manager ask a pitcher in the late innings of a game if they have anything left in their tank? Maybe he should have had more belief in his bullpen. There are a number of good managers in the league but can they make the right decision when their backs are up against the wall, apparently Grady couldn't.
