So long, Grady

After two years, 188 regular season wins, and a trip to the American League Championship Series, the Red Sox have parted ways with Grady Little. Are the Sox making the right move? Who should get his job?

I don't get it. You have a bunch of ball players who love playing for Grady and have produced like no other team in ML history and fell just short of going to the "Show". "...fate was sealed long before game 7." Huh???? I thought that Yankee owner was a fool. This tops anything he ever did or will ever do.

I would give Cito Gaston a call.

Agreed that Grady made a huge mistake in Game 7, but they would not - - repeat, would not - - have made it that far without him. He held the team together; and their 26 league-leading last at bat wins demonstrate how the Sox got fired up under his guidance. Players are more than "stats," and this team over-performed as a result of the good chemistry Grady made possible. Letting his option go is out-Steinbrennering George, and that's not something to be proud of. Based on what I've heard, my vote for next manager would be Fregosi. Oh, and even worse is the "silence" by the front office while they left Grady out there to bear the public's wrath, despite all the positive achievements. That's plain lousy of them. So both end result and process were handled poorly by the new management team.

Keep Little and get rid of Pedro and Manny. Those two are nothing but cry babies. They think the world revolves around them. As said in a previous response. Manny makes the effort when he feels like it. Waste of money on both those guys.

Grady Little needs to be gone. He doesn't even realize he screwed up. He says he'd do the same thing all over again if given the chance. Sorry Pal, but fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice.....BYE BYE GRADY!!!

The Sox have indeed made the right move: Little was a great guy, a great bench coach, but a lousy manager. Being manager is more than babysitting the prima donnas or wiping the noses of the crybaby du jour, it is making the hard calls that win games. The 2003 Sox were fantastic despite Little's managerial ineptitude, and while Pedro certainly was responsible for the 8th inning melt down, Little should have been a true leader and pulled Pedro no matter what Pedro may have said. Let's face it, Pedro could have been throwing ducks all night and he still would not have wanted to leave the game. For those of you who have rightly mentioned that Little would have been villified if he pulled Pedro, only to have the 'Pen lose the game, I disagree: if the 'Pen lost the game, it would have been the team which lost the ALCS. As it was, the team played its hearts out, the 'Pen was ready, willing, and able, and Little failed to act as a manager and call the game. Grady, you are a good man, and while you will be missed as a part of the team, you will not be missed as a manager. As for his replacement, I vote for Lopes or Hoffman.

The village deprived of it's idiot 2 years ago should now be relieved to hear of Grady's safe return home

Good riddens!!! I like you Grady, I do. But, you cannot have a person in that position who cannot pull the trigger when given 3-4 chances to do so. Keep this team together and we will have several more shots at this. Sign Walker, Sign Ortiz, Sign Nomar etc. Go Sox!!!

Grady Little - Great locker room coach, crappy game coach. See ya.

Thank God they are firing this clown. I was upset all year over this guys lack of a brain. This team was EASILY a 100+ win team this year with a mediocre manager. How he single handedly snatched the ALCS from Red Sox nation is unforgivable. It's time to move on and get a manager in here that is more on par with the talent level of the team.
