So long, Grady

After two years, 188 regular season wins, and a trip to the American League Championship Series, the Red Sox have parted ways with Grady Little. Are the Sox making the right move? Who should get his job?

We had a wonderful summer and I'll always remember that..but..even I knew that Pedro was running on empty. Grady should stick to being a bench coach. I don't think he has the "stones" to be manager. It's more than sticking up for your players..it's knowing when to play them and when to pull them.

I would say that this is the worst move John Henry has made since taking the helm of the Red Sox. No matter what happened that night, Grady would have been second guessed forever. What if he went to the bullpen and they gave up those runs, fire Grady for pulling Pedro. This has been the most exciting team in years. This team never quit. They gave everything they had to the fans, their teammates and their manager. But ownership quit on the manager. Why do I think this decision will come back to haunt this team!

Though I think it is the right move to make (no one would be able to the scrunity that he would have surely faced next year), I also think the team's leaders need to find a manager that has the ability to create the same chemistry that Grady had with the ballplayers. If they are lucky enough to get someone who has a sound knowledge of that game to go with that, there is no reason we shouldn't be seeing them play in October 2004.

Grady Little is a disgrace. The Pedro situation in game seven was just the final blow. Joe Torre outcoached him as did many other coaches this year. To be a good manager at this level you have to have a plan and you have to stick by it. Torre does always. He lost his last two world series but has one four and alway gives his team the best chance to win. From his bullpen by committe to finally establishing one and not using it, it is time for him to go. I will stand up for him for the fact that i too would have brought Pedro in for the 8th. I would have even let him pitch to Matsui, but the double Matsui hit was vicious. Pedro had nothing left and should have been yanked. It is time the Sox find a manager that is man enough to stick by his plan and help a very good team win. Little made the sox lose and as a die hard fan I truely thank the players for a fun season. THey got as far as they did by themselves and may have won it all if it wasnt for Little. With Bobby Valentine as a maybe I say LETS DO IT!

I think RedSox have made the right the decision of letting Grady go. It's been an exciting season, but it's been the most painful ending in RedSox history. The last fatal mistake Grady made which cost the team's World Series Bench should not been and is not the only reason he has been fired, it is the refusal of studying the statistics in situational pitching and hitting from Grady's mind that cost his job and the Sox World Series Bench! I don't understand why it is so hard for Grady to accept that, we are all human, Pedro, Manning...etc, after all, Science never lie, if Pedro is 23-24 year old, let him pitch, he was not, we have to accept the facts and don't be fooled by emotions. In Scientific point of view, I think Grady failed miserably, never agaisnt mother nature, you have so much to learn in this aspect Grady. Even though you are a nice man, you are not qualified to be Championship team--RedSox manager, and by the way, you own an apology to the RedSox nation after your last comments about you are not sure you are willing to manage this team.., You don't deserve it! and we do know who will be the Ghost in the coming Holiday!

Has Dan Duquette been rehired? That is the only thing that would make sense for this move! This is worse than firing Jimy. Are the same people praising Grady's demise the same ones who praised Jimy's? Seems that those people were proved wrong once so why not twice? For the first time in ages we have a great manager and a great TEAM. Not just a bunch of individuals with a common desire to make as much as possible by doing as little as possible, but an actual in it together team, and what do we do? Yes we fire the man who helped make it happen. Well Theo, who is going to replace Grady? Dusty? Not available. Jim Leyland? Jim's already taken over a team AND won a world series. Not gonna happen. Joe Torre? I guarantee Steinbrenner isn't going to get rid of Torre now. Alou? Ooops, not available either. Oh, I know let's get the AL "joke manager" Lou Pinella. He'll fit right in with the "joke GM". To paraphrase the Dixie Chicks, "I'm ashamed that Theo Epstein is our GM."

I think the Red Sox should have picked up the option for one more year. The media and fans overreacted (surprise! surprise!) to his Martinez non-move. Baseball for the most part is an individuals game, not a team game like football. The baseball manager gets too much credit for the wins and too much blame for the losses. Who are they going to get that's an upgrade? No one! (There's no Bill Parcells clone in available.)

Little should stay & they should fire Theo What a Mess

I feel bad for Grady.

Lived 26 years on the T line saw the Braves and Sox from 46 through 62. Ted Williams saw at least 100 Games. Grady Little did a good job, he gave that team some much needed stability and the players reacted well. I Watched at least 100 games this year on Directv. Pedro needs to learn how to re-evaluate his worth (not financially) his ego needs to come second and he has to become the believer and think of the team first as he did several years ago when they played Cleveland. Telling a players manager that you were OK to continue was at best poor judgement and left Little to choose someone to replace his best or support the thought that Pedro could tough it out. This team, if the press leaves them alone, is a winner and will win big time with a one time acquisition of another starter. That is assuming Pedro wants to learn how to deal with his diminished ability. He is still the best and he is not as he was; who amoung us is. Some work on this area done well will prolong his carrare and bring US ALL the winner we all deserve. THE YANKS ARE DONE IF WE HANDLE OURSELVES PROPERLY. Good job Theo. Bob a lifetime FAN
