After two years, 188 regular season wins, and a trip to the American League Championship Series, the Red Sox have parted ways with Grady Little. Are the Sox making the right move? Who should get his job?

Page 39 Shortsighted move to replace Grady LIttle. Letting the fans run the Red Sox is like letting the inmates run an Asylum. But so what else is new? I would have pulled Pedro in the 8th, and thought Little would have, too. But that was and is no guarantee of success. Managing a baseball team means making many judgements over a season. To be publicly excoriated and ultimately released as Manager over this one episode renders the hundreds of other good judgements meaningless... Chuck, East Greenwich Anyone who thinks that Grady was fired because of the 8th inning of Game 7 has not been following this team. Larry and Co. have not even come close to giving him a significant endorsement all season. It is obvious that he never fit into the Baseball Prospectus philosophy put in place by Mr James' senior advisor status. Well...Baseball Prospectus says that small-ball and good defense wins championships. For that reason, I think Rem-Dog would be a very likely candidate to manage this team. This would also open up a spot for Eck to be the full-time color guy. The times he sat in for Jerry this season, he was fantastic. Web, Telluride, CO Fisk??? Chris, Philadelphia PA too bad so sad ... is that Ralph Houck guy still alive not sure of the last name but at least he was a good sport and did not bad mouth the teammon the way out of town. I would suggest the name Don Zimmer fro a recycled coach but the bum couldn't take Pedro out of the game either! Ha! Zimm sure would be fun though... he can charge Pedro... fall down and put on a real sho every fourth game or so! JIM, malden Little is the least of the Dead Sox' problems. They have no every-day starter under thirty; they have no pitching; they still cannot catch the ball; and they are slow. They need to get bold: trade Manny and Nomar, move Veritek to first base, build their farm system. Fans should be sold on a five-year championship plan. Lower prices. Bring in a manager who thinks of the team before he thinks of salving some over-the-hill primma donna's ego. Steve, St. Paul, MN Once again managemnt doen''t look at the big picture. I did not agree with every decision that Grady Little. However, we had a chance to keep a manager the players wanted and played hard for every game. Now in an off season in which we should be concentrating on keeping this team together as the Yankees fall apart, we are just acting like a clone of the evil empire and we have lost another chance to act different from them. I hope I am wrong but we won't make the playoffs next year, because our management team believes that STATS are more important than chemistry. The message they are sending to the players is that your input doesn't count and you were not good enough. If you want to go play somewhere else then thats okay. So so long Normar, Pedro, Todd and Jason. Good luck your not wanted here. Lou, Chester, VA Just so you all know - I was and am behind Grady LIttle. I think it's a mistake to let him go, and I don't see anybody out there who's going to get this ballclub to a higher water mark than what you all just saw. But you all wanted it, so now you got it. Just be careful what you wish for... Good Luck, Grady. Nice job. chris, brighton I think it at the very least should be offered to Lil' Joe. I mean, c'mon, he has the energy and motivation. Gunther, West Roxbury, MA I was at Yankee stadium for Game 7 so at 1:00 am or so, I, too, was inclined to have Grady's head. Now, I'm not so sure. The Sox have had two great seasons. Perhaps management should look a little closer to home at the deals that were not done such as the Colon trade. The front office didn't want to give up Casey Fossum and look what happened. He spent almost the entire season either in the bullpen or on the DL. I was against giving up Hillebrand at all but at least Colon would have been worth it. Instead, we got Kim and no series. Shelley, NJ The players backing is no small thing and keeping hig paid egos together is a talent that outweighs number crunching! Of course Pedro was an error, but even the bull pen's disastes don't warrant firing. The Steinbrenner mystique is affecting our Sox too much! Maybe Don Zimmer will manage!!!
