So long, Grady

After two years, 188 regular season wins, and a trip to the American League Championship Series, the Red Sox have parted ways with Grady Little. Are the Sox making the right move? Who should get his job?

Is Dan Duquette back? Sounds like it.

Sure, the guys liked him, anyone would like a coach who let them do whatever they wanted. Pedro going to the Domincan any chance he can get. Manny being benched for one game, ooohhhhhh! he really showed him huh? considering he didn't want to play the day before. Sure he may have been liked but watching him make the moves he made this yr has taken 5 years off my life. I got one word, BUNT! slow guy on first, your bats have been cold and you've been playing nothing but one run games, DROP A BUNT GRADY!!!!!!!!! Everyone knows, playoff baseball is where you play small ball. Sure they don't have the Speed the champs have but still, we all could've learned a thing about how win baseball games by watching the wordl series. Grady, I hope you had your pen and paper.

Here are my thoughts- and i could be proven wrong. Grady Little is not the issue here. These owners overpaid for the team, they're now in a situation where they can't afford to pay their players. What will happen is they'll lose most of their decent players via trade or free agency. the team will be "rebuilt" and we won't be anywhere near the post season for another 4-8 years. Remember that this is still the old owners team, the duke should be proud but that's about it.

As a lifelong Yankee fan, I'd like to thank the Boston Red Sox management for making this change. This will ensure that the Yankees will win the American League East title yet again. As I grieve for the Yankee loss in the world series, I celebrate the ridiculous Red Sox. Nice Going!!

How pathetic...poor Grady responding to his dismissal still with that ridiculous shaved head. Kinda feel bad for him. Not really...

I think a former Red Sox favorite with major league managing experience should be given the job. Don Baylor would be an excellent choice.

It is an unfortunate situation. I didn't think Grady Little was the right guy for this job from the beginning, but thought that Red Sox brass knew the score better than I. Not to mention that anyone was better in the job than Joe Kerrigan. Grady's performance cannot be characterised as terrible. He did seem to have the right personality to deal with the babies on this Red Sox team. But, the mismanagement and mistakes were there for all to see. The stunning decision (an emotional decision I'm sure) to not take Pedro Martinez out of the game after all the hits he gave up only sealed his fate as far as I'm concerned. And to then say that was the way he used Pedro all year long, as well as other comments, well.. there was no way he could come back next season. I have heard talk that Jerry Remy might be asked to take over the position. I am not sure Remy is the man for the job either, but who else is out there and available? Not Joe Torre, or Ken Macha. I don't know who the Sox can get. Maybe they can bring back "Walpole Joe"

The Sox are making the wrong move at the wrong time for the wrong reasons.

Having just watched the press conference it looked to me like Theo would have rather had his eyes plucked out than be doing in a guy he thought was a good manager. And he was. No coach in Boston has ever done as good a job of handling the players and the media. Win 90+ games and take them farther then they have been in a long time will get you fired around here. I don't trust Larry Luchino as far as I can throw him. Rots a ruck next year suckers!!!

Congratulations to all you Sox fans who went cross-eyed howling for Grady's firing. Now you're happy. But look around to see who else is joining you in the celebration--Yankees fans, A's fans, anyone who was bewildered by the success of the Red Sox this year. Ooh look, there's Dan Shaughnessy and the entire WEEI staff holding the door for them. When will everyone wake up and see that Grady Little was the captain of this ship of fools and MAYBE HE JUST NEEDED A FIRST MATE to help out while he had to keep the 9,000ft USS CURSE OF THE BAMBINO churning ahead in hellish waters?! Good luck to Red Sox management with this decision because it is a million times worse than Grady's decision in Game 7. And have fun with the mutiny you'll have on your hands next year.
