So long, Grady

After two years, 188 regular season wins, and a trip to the American League Championship Series, the Red Sox have parted ways with Grady Little. Are the Sox making the right move? Who should get his job?

This comes as no surprise, Grady has mis-managed the team all year long on several occasions. If we didnt have the talent that we have on the team he would have been fired a long time ago. I honestly feel that the caliber of players on the team masked his poor management skills. The team ran him he did not run the team. I think this is a great move but I wish it happened earlier this year!

Time will tell if this was the correct move. After having seen the way this new ownership works you would have to give them the benefit of the doubt regarding this decision being made based on the total body of work and not the 6th game of the ALCS. There are many instances throughout the last two seasons where, although Grady's people skills could not be questioned, his game management skills were often seen as being a bit lacking. One of his shortcomings could be the fact that he delayed many moves that an otherwise experienced manager would have acted upon much quicker. As far as a replacement I would suggest an experienced manager take over. I do think this change should take place immediately to begin the healing that is needed in regards to the player reaction to Grady's firing. The MAJOR

Grady Little did a great job of keeping things calm in the clubhouse and got good results on the field. If te powers that be want a stat man, they should have kept Joe Kerrigan!

Thanks Grady for 2 solid years, I wish you took Pedro out though.

they should have picked up the option. PEDRO LOST the game. ACE should not lose with a 5-run lead. look at Josh Beckett. Martinez is not good anymore. TRADE HIM NOW!!! Pedro should not call himself ACE because he is not good. He didn't even win in the ALCS. ONLY WAKEFIELD won. The problem with this ballclub is THE PRIDE OF PEDRO

Is it me, but is Theo Epstein too young to be a manager? But he can be GM? Geez, poor Grady, he gets canned by someone young enough to be his son. That's horrible!! Only in Boston. I am a lifelong Red Sox fan, raised in Rockland. I have seen it all, and though I agree he stuck with Pedro way too long, I just wish they won that game so I could have seen the Red Sox brass (?) have to keep Grady through all their lies. This is why we never win, because we live on the edge of desperation.

Grady is just another scapegoat. The Sox made it as far into the playoffs as they deserved and then some. They had no buisness taking the Yanks into game seven and probably shouldn't have beaten the A's.

What could the Red Sox possibly be thinking? What pitching did Little have to work with this year? When Pedro was on the mound, I always thought, here's a real good chance for a W. With all the other staff, that feeling was not there, regardless of the win/loss record. Bullpen? It was awesome in the post-season, but how DID the Red Sox get into the playoffs? If you want to point to game 7 and say Little made a mistake, ok he did but only because of the outcome. IF the Sox win, he looks like a genius. He kept the guy in who was the backbone of the staff and why not? This must have been a decision that was made long before the playoffs. So who are the Sox gonna bring in now? I hear Don Zimmer is gonna collect unemployment, how about him? I've been away from Boston for over 20 years and still live and die with the Celtics, Patriots, Bruins and the Sox and while losing to the hated Yankees is always tough to swallow, Little's firing leaves a worse taste in my mouth. So much for clubhouse chemistry...

Joe Morgan, the baseball announcer and former 2nd baseman of the Cinc. Reds. Being a former player, he can relate to the players. Being a World Series Champion, the smart ones will listen and he learned under one of the best baseball managers of all time, Sparky Anderson. We need somebody who has the guts and the brains to know when to pull a starter so your team isn't 10 runs behind coming up in the first, and when your set-up man is pitching perfectly - leave him in and forget about the tradition of the "closer must close."

The Sox asked themselves "What Would George Do?" and of course he would fire the man who led his team to back to back 90 win seasons for his inexcusable move of leaving his overextended ace to the wolves when he had an overachieving and rested bullpen ready to seal the ALCS. To beat the Devil you must act like the Devil and bully for Boston for cowboying up and canning Chicken Littlebrain. Here's hoping George loses his mind and fires Torre because the Red Sox deserve a manager who's a winner in the Show not some minor league hack. But like the article said George is probably not going to fire him because Boston wants him. So if you want to go the geezer route may I suggest Sparky Anderson who will "only" be 70 next year who's won it all 3 times
