After two years, 188 regular season wins, and a trip to the American League Championship Series, the Red Sox have parted ways with Grady Little. Are the Sox making the right move? Who should get his job?

Page 6 The guy left the best pitcher in baseball for the last 25 years in the game. In hindsight a mistake, but not as devastating as the 86 world series. He should have kept his job. I wish the press would attack the people who deserve it, like Jacobs, Sinden and that puppet O'Connell. william, Lee, Ma. Grady, although I often disagreed with you, I appreciate the job you did here. I thought you were treated unfairly in the end. You handled a wide range of personalities well. It maybe time for a new manager, but you will still be missed. Thanks. Darwin , Santa Cruz 90 plus wins in 2 seasons and he's out? Man, I'm from Philly and I thought WE were brutal. We'd have taken that record any day. It's the sad end to the season of "what could have been." Brian, Chesapeake, VA Great guy and a players coach but no situational sense. I have never watched a team that played worse situational baseball then the 2003 Red Sox. I think we hit and ran 3 times all year and sacraficed maybe 14 times. Grady obviously inheritted the bullpen disaster but all in all I thought he handled it pretty well. He kept throwing Timlin early in the year when everyone thought he was a walking homerun and it proved to be a great move. BUT, the pulling of Walker and Ortiz in late innings for defensive purposes or because there was a lefty throwing was rediculous. Honestly how much better defensively is Damion Jackson then Walker? Or if your going to replace Ortiz with a runner then RUN. Oh and by the way it only took Grady half the year to figure out that Ortiz was a better player then Giambi. Please..... I supported the move to leave Pedro to come out for the 8th but any manger knows, 1 gets on you come and get him. All in all Grady's lack of baseball sense probably cost us first place in the division. P.S. Maybe our new coach will not have our catchers stand up for 0 and 2 fastballs. By the way as a hitter you can see that. Remeber Jeter's at bat in game 7 when he hacked the high fastball for the leadoff double??? you dont hit a pedro 95 mph fastball up by the eyes unless you know its coming. David, Boston Thanks for everything Mr. Little. Compared to last managers we had you really were able to keep the clubhouse together, which is maybe the hardest thing to do in The Sox. But i saw the tragical final game here from my computer on the www.mlb.com, and i understand people's feelings and so on. My heart was telling me that the best thing would be to pick up the option on you, but the truth is that things would not have been the same anymore. As we say in Spain..."The One Who Fails, The One Who Pays" and even though Pedro was the one who screwed it up, you had the obligation of seeing that coming and make the move...Even i saw it from here!!!!! I'll ever be thankful to you Mr. Little for this wonderful season, you and your team gave to us (Red Sox Nation), but the ending was so painful that it's time to try a new beginning. Wish for you Mr. Little the best wherever you go. /A spaniard who still doesn't believe in curses....GO SOX Ignacio , Spain Best thing for next year: Keep Grady.. best thing for the future of the Red Sox, get rid of him. The players love him, and that's important, but what the Red Sox finally need is a smart manager who makes smart moves. Grady Little isn't that man, we all know he's NOT a good manager.. so let's hope we can find someone who is. Matt, Swampscott, Ma Bad. Very bad move. I just can't understand why people(especially Boston media) can't appreciate how far we made this year instead of cry over bottom of 8th inning in game 7th!? We haven't made this far for 4 years. I thought that there was unusual good chemistry between players and GM which is very rare. He was far better than Jimy Williams and Joe Kerrigan. It's gonna haunt us. Another curse has been added. I think it's very important for fans and media, in particular, to create comfortable atmosphere for players. That's what that Fox guy(who gave walk off homerun to Blue Jay and got fired and now pitches for Marlins!!) said. Environment players can enjoy playing baseball..... Jimmy, Fenway Letting Grady go is going to prove to be a bigger mistake than leaving Pedro in game 6 was. I'll be surprised if the Red Sox make the playoffs at all next year. Might as well let the big money talent walk and start rebuilding now. Peter, Mendon I think the "Remdog" should be the new coach. Jerry R., Boston It's time to celebrate-it's two week too late but at least we don't have to put up with his foolishness any longer. It will make the winter a little easier to take-I've been following the Red Sox since 1946 and he is by far the worst manager I can remember. He wasn't fired for just one decision either-he was lucky all year but made many poor decisions and got away with a lot of them.
