After two years, 188 regular season wins, and a trip to the American League Championship Series, the Red Sox have parted ways with Grady Little. Are the Sox making the right move? Who should get his job?

Page 60 Grady is out. That issue is over. The Red Sox should go all out for Peter Gammons as Manager. The big three at the top should pull him away from the broadcast booth, where he favors the Red Sox as it is, and give him whatever it takes to throw on a Red Sox uniform. (ps. why the hell do managers wear uniforms?) Stuart, Brighton This is a dissapointment. Who the hell wants to be a manger in todays day and age, when even if you're successful you're fired because you didn't win the whole thing. Guess what everyone, only one team does every year! Should we fire all the coaches that don't? The mgt. team is a bunch of crowd pleasing assholes! Boston gets another black mark as a result. Dan, Attleboro I'm ashamed at how the Red Sox management treated Grady Little. He was a very good manager and deserved to have his contract renewed. I cheered for the team throughout the year when he made the decisions that helped get the team into the seventh game of the ALCS and I was willing to live with his decision on Pedro. Unfortunately, a majority of the fans desperately needed a scapegoat for the loss to the Yanks (forget Pedro threw the pitches, all the runners Red Sox hitters left in scoring position, and Wakefield's pitch to Boone). Worse, the new Red Sox management, who's only contribution to modern baseball is the "bulllpen by committee" fiasco, felt the same. It's going to be interesting to hear the reaction when the Sox stumble to 85 wins next year, the clubhouse is in chaos, and they finish third in the AL East. Grady Little deserved better and he got this. The Red Sox deserve what they're going to get. Steve, Washington, D.C. Many wins.....many good feelings....my analogy is that you may make all A's in medical school, assist other doctors masterfully, have all the right looks, dedication and education....but if in your first surgery you botch the operation and the person dies...you get fired...and sued. Will, Hemosa Beach, CA Although they made the right decision, it is still a very sad day. I don't know all the behind-the-scenes factors that went into the decision, but I feel that it WAS made pretty much on the basis of not pulling Pedro in time in game 7. And don't say "Wait til next year"; this WAS next year! Brad , Sarasota, FL It should have been Felipe Alou in the first place. This team blew two great chances to get him. They should be ready if a third chance ever comes about! Patrick , Ottawa, Canada Crazy to get rid of Little!! He put the Red Sox in the best position to win and for what ever reason they did not... AGAIN! If anything, Pedro should have taken himself out of the game for the better of the team when he could not throw anything else effectively! Thank you to Grady and best of luck. A.B. , Ft. Lauderdale, FL Charlie Manuel or Bruce Bochy will be the next manager. Gee, what a big improvement (insert sarcasm here). Mike, Bedford, NH Grady did a fine job for which he was hired; that is calming down a disjointed clubhouse. Now that job is completed and we need a little tougher field general. Despite all the talk about the fans being impulsive and therefor shouldn't be listened to, they are the customers and in this country the customer has the last say. Also who is to say that the fans made their decisions on the one move made in game no.6. I know I didn't. Arthur Got to bring in Fregosi or Hargrove. Both are guys that have proven that they can handle a clubhouse of odd personalities and characters (Fregosi managed the 93 Phillies to perfection, and Hargrove did a great job with Indians teams that included Albert Belle and Roberto Alomar, as well as a young Manny). You need a proven guy to handle the Boston media, not a first-timer. Fregosi especially has already weathered the storm in Philly, which is almost as difficult. Anyone saying that you don't want a recycled manager is being shortsighted and foolish. Joe Torre and Jack McKeon are both recycled guys--Torre especially was a consistently losing manager until he took over for the Yankees. Sometimes you've got to be in the right situation. That said, if Torre or Jim Leyland become available, they should jump to the head of Boston's wish list.
