After two years, 188 regular season wins, and a trip to the American League Championship Series, the Red Sox have parted ways with Grady Little. Are the Sox making the right move? Who should get his job?

Page 69 I beleive that the Red Sox brass have made the right decision not to pick up Grady Little's option. Truth is this team won because of the talent put together in the front office. Grady was a good influence on this team and an asset but his inability to understand when to when to use a player and when not to use a player, how to use a player and how not to use a player was evident throughout his two years as the Red Sox manager. I like Grady Little but he is not a big league manager. Con, Biddeford I thought Littles handling of the players was the best I had seen in years. I think it is decisions like this that cause the red sox not to be able in win the big one. I agree he should have taken pedro out, but................................. janet, warner, nh Is anyone else amused by the way Jack McKeon is being praised for making the same decision Grady made and leaving his guy in there? The only difference is in the outcome. A manager can only do so much; the players still have to play. Firing Grady was a mistake, but a bigger one would be further disrupting chemistry by bringing in someone besides Remy. Robert, Brooklyn Grady did the best with what he had. The consistency in which his players played for him was incredible, the clubhouse as a whole would've played beyond their abilities for Grady and now I just feel terrible. It's just another Boston, here we go again move. This town and it's fans are unbelievably stupid if they think another manager would've even taken this club to the ALDS, let alone game 7 of the ALCS. Let's here the whining next year when the clubhouse millionaires show what they think of this move next year. Looks like Boston's hopes just took a nose dive. Who the heck does mgmt think they're gonna get, Joe Torre? You can't always go with numbers. I'll miss Grady Little, good luck Grady, you were terrific and all of Boston will see how good you were in the future. joey, wilmington You have the evil empire down to their last 5 outs, you have a bullpen that has been almost flawless in post-season, your ace is over the 100 pitch count, and you are up by 3 runs, uh, lets see.......... Of course you fire him, I don't care how well respected he is with the team or as a person, he let them down, he let management down, and he let the fans down. He was hired to manage, and in this case he failed. Now bring on Hargrove, he coached Manny in Cleveland and he would love to show that bum in Baltimore (Angelos) and the evil empire what he could do with a real team. joe, md Bye Bubba!! You deserved to go. You could not win the big game. This was worse than Buckner's error in 1986. You cost the game on stupidity. Shannon, Arlington, Ma This is a mistake. To let Grady go because of fan and talk show emotion is beyond ridiculous. "Theo, you mean to tell me you fired the manager who got you to the 11th inning of the 7th game of the ALCS (where the Red Sox haven't been in years!)and you want ME to do better??!!!" Wake up Boston...what serious manager would want to be in the position. How about this...manager by committee...let the sports writers and talk show yaks manage! Each one could take the team for a week and the fans can vote on who they want the most! Now THAT's Fan Friendly! They'll miss you Grady...they don't know it yet, but they will. Donna, Salem,NH Grady Little is not the best manager in the world, but if given the chance he might have been a real good one. His record was not bad in the regular season winning over 90 games each year, better than most Red Sox managers have managed. And we all know it only counts in the playoffs and some of his decisions were off basis, but he was trying to win. Everyone has hindsight thoughts about game 7, we know the outcome of the game and wonder what if the ace was taken out. But why pay Pedro the money to be our ace if you are going to take him out when it is all on the line...he was still pitching in the 90's- his location was decent and he was just getting hit by some clutch hitting. Intead of blaming the manager, maybe some should go to the players. In big games the players or the ones on the field and they decide the outcome. Why weren't the Sox making the big plays, don't blame the manager ask the players. Pedro left in the eigth, where were the bats in the 9th and 10th. Is that Grady's fault? I leave on this note, after two years of losing in the Eastern Conference Finals to the Detriot Pistons, the Chicago Bulls never fired Phil Jackson, the Bulls went on with some good players and built a dynasty with 6 World Championships (yeah Jordan was on the team and the greatest player in our modern era). I am not saying Grady Little is Phil Jackson, but given the talent on this team and another chance it could have worked...again isn't great we all have a vision of hind sight in us....Go Red Sox Mike, Tewksbury, MA It is easy to underestimate Grady's contributions to the difficult-to-manage Red Sox. It's a mistake to let Little go, especially given a lack of candidates that can be considered clear-cut improvements. Daniel, Cambridge I liked Grady, he did a descent job, I defonitly didnt agree with a few of the things he did, for 1 the Pedro thing was the biggest, 2nd i couldnt stand him always sitting Walker and Nixon EVERY time a lefty pitched, it drove me crazy, especially when he sat walker in the playoffs when he had 4 homeruns, that was crazy, He waas our hottest bat. 3rd, sitting Varitek in the playoffs because Wakefield was pitching, thats taking out 1 of our best bats, Varitek can catch Wakefield just fine. Finally all the pinch running, taking out Ortiz and a few other moves when it came to pinch running, you are taking out some of your best hitters for extra innings! I love Remy, give him a shot!! I love Theo too and i pray he spends some money this year and we NEED to win this next year, we all no the hated Yankees are gonna spend some money and grab Shefield or Vlad. I have faith in Theo and the whole group and they will bring a championship to Boston next year, i cant wait till spring training, this is going to be the hardest winter ever, GO SOX!!!!
