Well, Manny was the AL batting champion in 2002 and came very close in 2003. While he doesn't always hustle, and his attitude isn't the greatest, he does produce. The Yankees are the only team that can afford him....another "Babe Ruth move by Red Sox mgmt". They're gutting a team that has champion potential.

A great move to try and shape up the team financially. This would allow us to get a tier 1 starting pitcher and outfielder. This also sends a message to Manny that you better shape up or you are out.

I like the idea of getting rid of him solely that he is another year older and we could trade for a big name. We need to refrain from sending him to the Yankees, they will be looking to rebuild after George gets through. But I think they should look at Sexson from the Brewers. He is a power hitting firstbaseman which we are in great need for. Also, we would be giving him to the Brewers, enough said. But Manny is a good bat, but horrid in the field.

Well let's put it this way, Manny and Pedro in 2004 will cost the sox $37 million. Last year's Florida Marlin's entire team was $52 million! Imagine what we could do if we dumped their salaries with Theo at the helm! Great Move!
