Man oh Manny

What do you think of the decision to put Manny Ramirez on irrevocable waivers? Will another team -- (gulp) Yankees -- take on the $104 million remaining on his eight-year, $160 million contract? If no team claims Ramirez, will the All-Star slugger get traded?

Another stupid move by a Boston Franchise. Typical.

Huh?

Who Cares? Manny has been a overated player since being signed by the Sox. Let the Yankees have him, And while Theo is at it why don't he put Pedro on Waviers too. Free up some money for players who want to play ball like Varitek and Nixon.

Should have done this last year. Let the BUM go!!!!

Steven, Salem

this is not good. I always like the players not the championships of course being a redsox fan. so the idea of us losing one of the players i liked alot just stinks.. but hey, he isn't a wht batter so get rid of him. we only want spanish pitchers right?? he was worth every penny in the playoffs. how aobut nomah... put him on waivers too then. I will always have a "it figures attitude toward the sox. same as my dad."

I think this is a brilliant, gutsy move. Manny Ramirez didn't fit in with the new "all for one" philosophy of the Sox; he was more of the "take my own cab home" philosophy of earlier teams. Ramirez didn't know what it meant to be a team player, which should work just fine for New York, if they want him. Perhaps finally we can get someone who can hit *and* field, *and* who acts like a member of a team and not an egoistic overrated superstar. Go, Steinbrenner, take him. We dare you. Go ahead. See ya in the funny papers.

Although I would hate to lose his bat I won't miss his drama and his lazy play in the outfield. Use the money to sign Nomar, V-teck Lowe and the rest of the crew.

Jim, Quincy, MA

If someone takes him it will solve two problems. The Sox won't have to hire a manager with baby sitting skills and they free up money to pay Pedro, Nomar and free agent pitching. Bottom line is Manny is not worth $20m per year. Smart management move but Manny could hurt them on the field if he goes to NY. I don't think they can trade him unless they pick up a big chunk of his salary. This is definitely there fall back position. Manny will not be on this team next year.

i hope they get a few more home run hitters for the team , not enough on the team!!!! this is why we did not go to the world series not because of gady little

It's astounding all the ways the Sox keep finding to break my heart and then kick me while I'm down.
