I'm all for it, he undercuts discipline in general. He stands there and watches everything off his bat. Triples become doubles, doubles become singles, infield singles become outs and his response is that stupid grin that says "oops I did it again" maybe the people in some other town will find that adorable but I really cant stand the sight of him at this point. I bet no one wants him at that price and the Sox are stuck with him anyway. If thats the case, at least you can curb his attitude.

Putting Manny on waivers is a great idea, especially now. Steinbrenner is hot after the loss to the marlins, and he has taken control of the team ready to make changes. If he picks up Manny, then we have plenty of salary room for Vladimir Guerrero plus some good bullpen arms. Manny is slowly losing value, and in 2 or 3 years he won't be worth the $20 million

Yes, its a good idea. He is a great hitter, but his contract is an albatross and the Red Sox need the money to sign, Varitek, Timlin, Walker and Ortiz.

An interesting and bold move. Looks like they're hoping to drop Manny and grab Vlad Guerrero to replace him --- not a bad move at all, if it works out. The Yankees are the only team that would take him and George is desperate and may jump at this, but Manny's not the player the Yanks need and Theo knows this. Good, let them use up a chunk of George's money on Manny and tie their hands in acquiring pitching.

Smart move to free up money and spend it where it will really count. He's a good player, but not worth the money. If he's not claimed, he wil probably still be trade bait with the Sox eating some of the contract. Good move by Theo, now go get another arm.

I read several weeks ago that Manny was begging every visiting team to trade for him all year. His current contract makes him hard to deal. If there are no takers he should just "pony up" and take his 20M like a man! I'll be a head case for 15M!!!!
