What do you think of the decision to put Manny Ramirez on irrevocable waivers? Will another team -- (gulp) Yankees -- take on the $104 million remaining on his eight-year, $160 million contract? If no team claims Ramirez, will the All-Star slugger get traded?

If he picks up Manny, then we have plenty of salary room for Vladimir Guerrero plus some good bullpen arms. Looks like they're hoping to drop Manny and grab Vlad Guerrero to replace him --- not a bad move at all, if it works out. The Yankees are the only team that would take him and George is desperate and may jump at this, but Manny's not the player the Yanks need and Theo knows this. He's a good player, but not worth the money. If he's not claimed, he wil probably still be trade bait with the Sox eating some of the contract. Good move by Theo, now go get another arm.
