I love it !!! however ,iwould rather see a trade with the sox eating some of his contract.This is another example of Dan Duquett making a bad deal.

I couldn't be happier. He's a primadonna who choked when we needed him the most. He's not worth the money we pay, and he doesn't gel with the attitude of his teammates. Any Sox fan living in NYC knows that when we argue with a Yankees fan over payroll, all they ever do is bring up Manny. I always reply, "I don't even like Manny." Now I'll be able to safely say, "the Yankees: the best team that money can buy" again.

Ha Ha Ha!. So glad we didn't resign the space cadet. He makes Bill Lee & Roger Moret seem normal. Steinbrenner must be laughing right now. He'll never take him off your hands unless you eat a good portion of his salary. He'd rather watch you be weighed down by his salary and be stuck with him. He'll go out and sign Maddox, Guerrero, and maybe Colon. This move will make Manny even less motivated to play for the Sox.

Great idea, this has the possibilty of freeing up a large amount of payroll to sign more talent. I don't think Manny likes it in Boston anymore, better to make this move now then later when his numbers might not be so good.

What difference does it make, there isn't a team out there that will pick him up anyway. Any general manager in his right mind that could afford that bloated contract will make a move for the same guys the Red Sox want to get, i.e. Valdimier Guerrero, Bartolo Colon, or Kevin Millwood. Although it is nice to dream, let's be realistic. Would you pay 100+ million for a lazy premadonna?? Sure he can hit, but he is a mediocre outfielder at best, and beyond that he is Cancer in the Club House. It is fun to imagine all of those possibilities!!!

Question: Do you know why David Ortiz drove in so many runs? Answer: Because everytime he came up Manny was on base (and usually someone else too). Manny has led the A.L. in on-base pct 2 straight years. He makes the rest of his team better.
