What do you think of the decision to put Manny Ramirez on irrevocable waivers? Will another team -- (gulp) Yankees -- take on the $104 million remaining on his eight-year, $160 million contract? If no team claims Ramirez, will the All-Star slugger get traded?

Page 49 here we go again. just watch the yankees snap manny up and have him destroy us next season. eoin, ireland A terrible move. Why let the Yankees have him? Manny, like Rice before him, speaks, and leads, with his bat. The Sox can't replace him. He's not even embarassing in the outfield. Steve, Danville PA in excile from Bangor ME I think its another bad deal. The Redsox will suffer when he leaves. another Great Player lost. Ernest, Jamestown Rhode Island I hope someone snags on Manny, otherwise it will be a LONG year. Neshat, san diego I think it is the right move for the organization. Manny's home runs do not come as often as singles and doubles should. Also, he is a very slow outfielder; this along with Nixon force Damon to cover about 50% of the outfield. His laissez-faire attitude is also that of a spoiled brat than a franchise player. LEF, Boston At first I was like what the hell are they thinking. Then after thinking calming down. It hit me, the money that they spend on Manny they could use to get more quality players. They could get a number two starter in Colon maybe even Millwood aswell as valdemeir Gurearo. I don't know if it is smart decision but I can understand why they want too Ramon, washington ,DC Interesting move. Seriously though, Theo is hot. Are you single yet, Theo? Lee, Norwood Nice to cure yourself of cancer. One more cancer to go. Brockton, brockton Great move Now he can hang out with all his yankee friends at the NY Ritz. peter, boston I believe floating Manny Ramirez to the market is a great move. It shows to the players, at the very least, that the owners will not tolerate laziness and personalities. The redsox need to be a team. Eventhough they came across as a great "team" last year, the constant behavioral issues from Manny did wear on the team. By no means am I saying that Manny Ramirez is not the most feared hitter in baseball, because frankly, he is. But in order for him to be worth his weight in cash, he needs to be more of a leader. If the Yankees pick him up, it paves the way for us to get Vlad Guerrero, who is a better all around player, for less of a price. It also allows us to look at picking up a pitcher. The Sox are in a inenviable position with all the contracts coming up in the next two years... They needed to make a move with the "big three", and I like this one.
