Man oh Manny

What do you think of the decision to put Manny Ramirez on irrevocable waivers? Will another team -- (gulp) Yankees -- take on the $104 million remaining on his eight-year, $160 million contract? If no team claims Ramirez, will the All-Star slugger get traded?

Great move, he is way overpaid for a DH, he cant field or run, sign nomar & varitek longterm and add a couple of pitchers with the money. Move Ortiz to the cleanup spot!!

Mike, Boston

Good luck trying to give this guy away... But I guess it might be like aids: I have the cure for you but first you have to get the disease, and then deal with complications from the medication on top of it all..... Here's a great hitter for ya, but you'll have to pay him $20 million a year, and watch him act like a child. But he's yours. For free. Theo is in a no-lose situation, though.

Brian, Pepperell

If Manny leaves the sox have no chance this year. What a stupid move. If he does not get picked up, he is not going to be a happy camper in Boston.

Tanya, Girard

What is going on! They let Clemens go for nothing in return and now Manny???? At least they got $125,000 for The Babe. Curse of the Bambino my foot. Curse of the Bonehead Management/Owners.

Wiseguy, Elkhorn, WI

Very few things in baseball are for sure. Well, we have Manny for 5 more years 4 sure. Look at the numbers. How can you let that go? and right to the waiting arms of the Yankees. Bad deal all around.

Chris, Woodstock

Why is everyone surprised?? This was a no brainer move by the Sox. The surprise was when they signed him for the amount they did. Now we're paying for that move in the form of another ticket price increase.

Jacmarcarp, Arlington

I think it was really bad timing on the Red Sox part to make this announcement..... right after announcing the increase of the price in tickets! What are they thinking ? They have killed the morale of the clubhouse and at the same time they are putting the screws to their most loyal fans....the lower and middle class !

Kimmie, Watertown

Dumb. Giving away your best hitter, possibly to the Yankees, and getting nothing in return. Brilliant. Enjoy your $75 seats watching a bad team next year, you "Save Fenway" idiots.

Lou, Shrewsbury

Any player who makes $20 mil a year and jogs to first base during the playoffs should be history - that you Manny!

John, Palo Alto California

i think its a good move for Redsox when its come to money, but we will defintely miss his HR/Runs..
