What do you think of the decision to put Manny Ramirez on irrevocable waivers? Will another team -- (gulp) Yankees -- take on the $104 million remaining on his eight-year, $160 million contract? If no team claims Ramirez, will the All-Star slugger get traded?

Page 55 People - Manny isn't going anywhere. I hate to break it to you. Yes, it's nice the Red Sox put him on waivers. Do you think that's a positive sign for any other team that wants to take him on? NO! They'll look at this move and interpret it as it is - a sign of desperation from a team totally frustrated at Manny's attitude and one-dimensional play. No team with an ounce of sense will make a $20 million per year commitment to this enigma. Matt, Westford I think placing Manny Ramirez on waivers is as stupid as geting rid of Grady Little. Both decisions are incorrect. Leaders of the team should not be put out to pasture because they do not have a World Series ring on their finger. Chemistry in a team should remain as long as possible while the winning ways continue. Daniel, Chelmsford Just another bad move, guess we wont make it next year Mike, Malden Great move as long as they use the $$ to lock up all the guys coming up next year. To me Varitek and Nixon are the heart and soul of the team. I just hope the Yankees bite. Brian, Wallingford CT Some of last three years Manny's numbers: 336 RBIs, 111 HRs, 499 hits. Overpriced? You might not like his behavior, but he earns his money. F Lopez, The Bronx Good move should also get rid of Pedro. Both arrogant prima donnas. Do not let the tail wag the dog. george, heathrow, florida Na na na na, na na na na, hey-ey-ey, good-bye. Na na na na, na na na na, hey-ey-ey, goooood byyyyye. Just kidding, but I don't think anybody has the bank or the balls to do it. We'll see though. Dennis, Dorchester Don't let the door hit you... Joey, Southie If it frees up money to keep Pedro, Nomar and Todd Walker, I'm for it. Manny wasn't too impressive in the post-season. Tim, South Attleboro It's a gutsy move for the Sox but it could very well work out in thier favor. If they dump a guy like Manny with his salary they could go out and sign a guy like Colon and be able to offer a lot of those guys who's contracts are up next year a deal to keep this team together. Not to mention if NY signs him they get stuck with a head case who is a defensive liability and they wouldn't be able to sign Vlady who is a much better player all around.
