Man oh Manny

What do you think of the decision to put Manny Ramirez on irrevocable waivers? Will another team -- (gulp) Yankees -- take on the $104 million remaining on his eight-year, $160 million contract? If no team claims Ramirez, will the All-Star slugger get traded?

Putting Manny on waivers shows a new direction by the brass to wina championship, not just a playoff spot. Manny is good, bur he is not worth $20million and his need for a full-time babysitter is counter productive to the organizations goals.

Hmmm, What a good time to raise ticket prices. Everyone is too busy talking about Manny to realize that the prices have gone up. Good job management.! By the way, when nobody picks up Manny's contract and management can't trade him during the off season, Manny should be real productive next season. Wonder how many ground balls he runs out!!??

Manny was a very important part of this team getting as far as they did. I think it is crazy to trade him at this time.

Lets look at the big picture of this. If someone takes Manny contract that will open yourself up for more qualilty pitchers. I think that Theo has done a great job in putting together people in the club house. This is a long term picture. They want to resign Nomar and by letting Manny go they can lock Nomar in and give him a long term contract. Manny has also been a bad chemistry in the club house. He wants to do what Manny wants to do. When he came here we knew what we were getting and now we " the ownership" wants out of the contract . He has caused enough ripples in the wave. Manny would be better served somewhere else

Good move by the sox. You can use the money to sign guys on the team already that play hard and also test the market for guys like Vladimar, Milwood or Maddux.

Kareem, Brockton

There is no market for the guy. Steibrenner won't pick him up, Baltimore won't either. The Dodgers? we are stuck with him.

"Toronto pitcher Roy Halladay was the top player in baseball this year, according to the annual statistical rankings released yesterday by the Elias Sports Bureau, with Red Sox outfielder Manny Ramirez coming in second. " Great idea guys...let #2 player in the league go to NY and take a chance that the Yankees don't win the Series and Manny doesn't win MVP. Because if those two things happen (and they could easily happen) then Sox management will have to live with it. Curse? What Curse? Selling Ruth, messing up with Fisk and Lynn...now this? They do it to themselves!!! Do you have any idea what it is like being a Sox fan in the NY Metro area? Better sign Vlad if Manny goes......and a Pitcher. The time is NOW to open the checkbook and beat Steinbrenner. A window is open...you better jump through it Mr. Henry & Co.

Left fielders that hit .325 and drive in 130 runs are a dime a dozen in MLB.

Very interesting move by the organization. I'd love to see the Yanks snap for this one. The climate at the Empire is such right now that with this added pressure to sign a needed right fielder (by Friday) it may (a longshot) force them to overlook Valdimir Guerrero. They could make the move by Friday. This really shows that Sox ownership has their priorities in order....hopefully the ideal situation would be for Manny and his unbelievable salary to go... then the sox can firm up their starting rotation, bullpen, and defense, sign Tod (Clutch) Walker and feel more comfort room when it comes to signing Nomar, Trot and Tek. I'M still not so sure about DLowe. and even Pedro for that matter.

Maybe with the extra money they can afford Bruins tickets. I hear Jeremy Jacobs needs the cash pretty bad.
