Man oh Manny

What do you think of the decision to put Manny Ramirez on irrevocable waivers? Will another team -- (gulp) Yankees -- take on the $104 million remaining on his eight-year, $160 million contract? If no team claims Ramirez, will the All-Star slugger get traded?

Good move. Hate to lose his production, but we need better citizens in that dugout. Hopefully we can add another productive bat and another arm and get that ring next year. We'll miss ya Grady. Go Sox 2004!

Great move!!!! You have to love what this management is doing. They don't fool around. Finally we may be able to get of Duquette's last big mistake.

Excellant move. He's worth nowhere near 20 million per year on the team, and he may very well be worth the annual 5-8 million the Sox might have to pay to make him someone else's headache.

Who needs an overpaid player who doesn't see a need to run to first if it looks to be an out, or refuses to pinch-hit in a dire situation. Next out the door should be the whinner Pedro. Check out exciting players like Ichiro or Pierre and get a team with hustle. Winning is nice but not everything!!

Yer outta here, bum!!!

Great move if they are able to find someone to take his inflated salary. I'm sick and tired of his act, and his actions this summer during the Yankee series were unforgiveable. The Sox can do much better with the money they are paying him. His numbers aren't that great and his lack of hustle while running out ground balls is nauseating. While the are at it, they may as well put Pedro on waivers too. Unlike Clemens, Martinez is in the twilight of his career.

Every team is going to look at the horrid dugout scene in Philly, when Manny shook his $140mm head and declined Grady's request to pinch hit. He's not a pure hitter, he's a pure cancer. Look for every GM in MLB to take a pass. Anyone who wants him knows that the smart move is to wait until next week and trade for him, leaving the sox to eat most of his contract. Pedro the pouter: take note!

One down and two to go. Now get rid of Nomar and Pedro. None of the three gave us the performance equal to their salaries. I'm just disappointed that the Sox didn't trade Manny for some good young prospects. Does this mean no one else wants him either?

A loss in offensive production certainly, a gain in the overall better attitude of the team and a chance to keep the core players and get some pitching as well as some better free agents, Guerrero, Tejada, Millwood, COLON. So, it's a thumbs up move.
