Man oh Manny

What do you think of the decision to put Manny Ramirez on irrevocable waivers? Will another team -- (gulp) Yankees -- take on the $104 million remaining on his eight-year, $160 million contract? If no team claims Ramirez, will the All-Star slugger get traded?

I think it's complete nonsense. Do they ever want to win the World series???? Is there going to be the curse of Manny?!? COME ON!

I think the Red Sox management is surrounded by "ghosts". They have not learned anything. If you want the players you have to pay. It makes me mad that professional players make so much, but if the Red Sox don't pay it another team will. It will become yet another ghost in the Red Sox closet and I think the closet is already full!

Great move........ He was the reason for the fight with the yankees. He over-reacted to a pitch that wasn`t even close. He`s an animal. The reason Bosox lost was the bad "vibes" he brought. I was pulling for Boston all the way until I saw him walk to first base on his HR in the ALCS. Sorry........ That`s how it is here in America...........Someone should have reprimanded him publicly. Dusty Baker had bad "vibes" also........

Each season of his tenure, we have been treated to at least one Manny moment. Let him take his unfocused one dimensional act somewhere else Good riddance

Here we go again what the hell they thinking leting the # 1 hitter in the organization go. Thia is Roger Clemence all over again. This is the most ridiculous decision of the of season so far. Are they taking a page from the play book of Dan Doquett .IDIOTS

He gets his wish to play in pin-stripes and we're free of his salary and attitude.

We don't need no Manny. With all of the free agents we will have next year, we will need to save some bucks for them. See ya Manny, go annoy someone else.

Hey Sox fans, you guys should cool down and stop being hung up on the f**king Yankees. Let Manny produce even though he is eccentric, and if you want to stir the water, send some feelers to NY and steal Torre away. Life-time Cubs fan here who has hated the Yankees since I was concieved, and just wish you all would worry about yourselves and not the NY team who has sold its soul to the devil.

At first glance, It appears to be a reactive and horrible move, even with his personality, he is one of the best hitters in baseball, and just letting go of him is foolish. IF there was a trade for an ace starting pitcher, and then enough money so the Sox could keep Nomar, Nixon, etc, then it might be a good move in years to come. But that is a big IF.

tough scenario! Manny a Yankee? Ouch! If he goes elsewhere then it could be a good move. Only time and a good player like Colon or Guerro will tell. $104 million is too much for the Manny we saw this year. This brings back painful recent memories of Milloy becoming a Buffalo Bill but it looks like we may be o.k. on that one.
