What do you think of the decision to put Manny Ramirez on irrevocable waivers? Will another team -- (gulp) Yankees -- take on the $104 million remaining on his eight-year, $160 million contract? If no team claims Ramirez, will the All-Star slugger get traded?

Page 76 They should have put Pedro on irrevocable waivers! Of course, I doubt any team would pay his ridiculous $17.5 million salary demands (except maybe the Yankees). Sean, Boston I think Manny Ramirez is one of the top five hitters in the league. He is a 30 homer, 100 RBI and over 300 hitter. If the evil empire picks up Manny it will be a move that they will regret everytime they play the Yankees. It would be awful for the Sox. Vlad or Sheffield would never come to Boston, replacing his hitting would be a hard task. I think the Sox should grow up and hope nobody picks up the Hiting Machine...Manny Ramirez John, Worcester Mass Yippee!!!!!!!!!!! Matthew, Cambridge In the words of Teddy K.G.B., "Very Ahgressive" Tim S, Glastonbury CT Will he get traded? If no one claims him off the waiver wire, what makes you think anyone will give up a player for him? Good move by the sox. We need the money for good players, not Dan Duquette fantasy baseball players. Rico, Sin City You know, the Mets are also a possibility. Besides, why would the Yanks want Manny when they need a RF, a la Vladi Guerrero? Brian, Baldwin, NY Good move. He's too costly for such a lazy non-team player. Better to keep the $$$ and assure Trot, Jason, Nomar et al stay with the Sox after next year. Manny is too much a Prima Donna for my liking. A good ballplayer but a lazy one. Paul Donaldson, Pensacola, FL big gamble by the sox. If no one takes him, he will sulk for the next 5 years. rick, bronx, ny I think its a good move for sox it will free up neede cash flow, then we can pursue VLADIMIR GUERRERO also he is not the all around athelete ,noted by his lack of leadership, lets hope GEORGE reaches into his pocketbook,,,heheheheheheeh DAVID, NORTH READING If managing Manny was one of Grady's most important jobs, and Grady's not there, maybe the symmetry is good. Manny is very expensive, and I think an extra solid pitcher of the same calibre as he is hitter (or at least at the same salary) is a better investment for us. But then again, this could just be to make sure we can keep Pedro and No-mah at the end of next year.
