They should have put Pedro on irrevocable waivers! Of course, I doubt any team would pay his ridiculous $17.5 million salary demands (except maybe the Yankees).

I think Manny Ramirez is one of the top five hitters in the league. He is a 30 homer, 100 RBI and over 300 hitter. If the evil empire picks up Manny it will be a move that they will regret everytime they play the Yankees. It would be awful for the Sox. Vlad or Sheffield would never come to Boston, replacing his hitting would be a hard task. I think the Sox should grow up and hope nobody picks up the Hiting Machine...Manny Ramirez

If managing Manny was one of Grady's most important jobs, and Grady's not there, maybe the symmetry is good. Manny is very expensive, and I think an extra solid pitcher of the same calibre as he is hitter (or at least at the same salary) is a better investment for us. But then again, this could just be to make sure we can keep Pedro and No-mah at the end of next year.
