What do you think of the decision to put Manny Ramirez on irrevocable waivers? Will another team -- (gulp) Yankees -- take on the $104 million remaining on his eight-year, $160 million contract? If no team claims Ramirez, will the All-Star slugger get traded?

Page 9 1 Year too late. Jim, Walpole I like the idea. It'll enable us to spend his salary on possibly securing Nomar, Pedro, Lowe, Trot , Varitek and perhaps land Guerero. If the Yanks gulp him up...that's fine with me...I could really care less. Trading him is a better option though...at least Theo COULD steer him away from the Brronx. karl , tahlequah, ok Touchi to Theo for making this first move. Your move Brian (aka George's puppet). Rich, Lowell Unbelievable! Anyone that thinks that this is a good move has obviously not been paying attention! Beth, Scituate Maybe the $20 Million Dollar Man needs to be taught a lesson. If a team picks him up we are able to take the $104 Million and sign the likes of a Vlad or a Shetfield with maybe the possibility of getting Pettite. We'll see...but I wish Grady had the same emotionless attachment to a player that managment has...they would have removed Pedro in the 8th.... Todd , Waltham There are only a few players in baseball that can have the impact that Manny has with his bat. However, as we learned in the playoffs this year - pitching wins. will, quincy ma Waive Pedro too!! We are fleeced to the tune of $38 million/season for these 2 bums and we can't even win the division for God's sake! Sign Nomar for 8 years and unload Manny and Pedro! Drucker, Boston Hmmmm, where could we find a right handed slugger who is made to hit it over the monster??? Hmm I dunno, oh, wait a minute! Steve, Portland At first I thought that trading Walker was a bad move by the Celtics but after watching the game last night I see great potential and thought I saw a little of the "cowboy up" attitude. To rid ourselves of Manny might provide the same opportunity. Having watched the Sox not make moves and then make them with a knee jerk reaction attitude, I am glad they are willing to take a chance because we've not won it all with Manny on the team. I don't know which way George's ego will take him...only time will tell. David, Belfast My only question is why??
