A new home field

When the Patriots and Titans play Saturday night, they will do battle on new sod at Gillette Stadium.

Will the new grass play a role or is it a nonissue? Does it reduce the Patriots' home-field advantage?

It will not reduce home field advantage. It will help the Patriots slightly. Regardless of the field, the Patriots will win...

This is what happens when you have two weeks in between games. You run out of things to talk about. Did the turf help St. Louis in the Super Bowl two years ago? The team that executes their game plan the best will win the game. Nothing more, nothing less.

The new sod shouldn't be an issue...what will be a key to the Pats' success is if Charlie Weiss decides to run Antowain Smith straight ahead between the tackles consistently as opposed to a toss pitch around the end...If they pound him early and often, by the 4th quarter, he will have worn down the defense and will break a long one-like he was during during the 2001 Super Bowl Run

Lets be honest, it's going to be -0 on Saturday. All they did was put some new green grass down that has no shot of taking in this weather. Hence, it will be torn up bythe end of the first quater. Does it really matter what they play on?? The Pats win...it's that simple. The fans and the weather will play a bigger 12th man than the field.

The only way the new grass will help the Titans is if the Patriots "smoke it" and totally forget how to play the game

They should not put turf down, it is definitely a disadvantage for the Pariots. They have never had this and it is unfair. THey have no advantage, the other team has always used the Turf and not put down new for the playoffs, Why should they do this for the Pats. If they were to play where they have this the other team wouldn't be made to change. Why pats.

No it will not play an issue but the single digit temperatures sure may be an issue forcing less of an "Air McNair" game. There will be more short passes (Brady advantage) and more running (Titans advantage with their defense and the way Eddie George has been playing). Pats will advance though!

If the Patriots execute their offensive and defensive plays like they have during their 12 game winning streak they would beat the Titans in the asphalt parking lot of Gillette Stadium, COVERED IN SNOW!!!

Both teams have to play on it. I doubt very much that in such a short period of time, it will have enough time to root itself. It will probably benefit straight ahead power running. A Smith will have to go North to South rather than try and go East to West

I liked Bellicheck's comment "We both are playing on the same turf." Besides, when I look at all the factors why Gillette is such a home field advantage (i.e. crowd, weather etc.) turf is just not something I put too much weight on or have even considered as being an advantage (unless astro turf for those smaller quicker teams). But new grass/ turf will not have an impact. They could be playing on pavement and it wouldn't matter. The Pats will win 27-12.
