If the Colts' attacks the Patriots with a no-huddle offense, what's the best way to slow down Peyton Manning and company?

Blitz

There is now way unless you can keep him off the field. With Woody out and an underrated Colts defense ready to step up, it's not likely to happen.

Play bump and run coverage and blitz to get major hits on the quarterback.

Stop James from running on 1st & 2nd downs, occasional sack of Payton would help. Keep their over the middle, slightly longer passes than most other teams, well covered. Keep the defense fresh with many subs and try and keep Manning off the field as much as possible. No huddle wears out a defense.

You need to blitz Manning and get your hands on the receivers right off the line to mess up their routs. If Manning has time to fire were in trouble. We need to send people at him from every angle. He can't start to feel comfortable. Once we hit him a few times, he'll start whining at his line and yelling at his receivers. We just can't let him do what he's been doing.

Hopefully, Bill & company read these "suggestions" - the Pat's have to tell the ref's to put a stop to Marvin Harrison pushing off when he makes his "cut" .... he's theonly wide receiver who gets away with this obvious infraction. The Pat's have to continue to disquise their defense(s); this means right up until Manning gets thru with his "shennanigans". The Pat's do not rotate their "D" like other teams so this should be easy. Finally, the "D" has to contine playing their positions - i.e., no heros on defense .... and Willie & Mike have to contain the run. It would help also to put pressure on Manning at the outset - unlike Denver & KC, who let him run "amok" ....... GO PAT's! tsa

The best way to stop Manning is to time the blitzes and mix things up. Watching the Denver and KC games you could see where they wanted to blitz the Colts but because of Manning's check with me calls at the line neither defense was able to get a clean read to get through their offensive line. The Patriots in their last meeting did a good job of that until late in the game. They need to play all 4 quarters and play them very hard.

I think you must hustle and be on your toes at all times. Check off your match-ups and make sure you pop those receivers hard in the first 5 yards. The defensive line must keep up the pressure the whole game and you will start to see Manning get frustrated. You will not see all-out blitzes early, as we did against the Titans, but that will gradually change as the game progresses.
