Jackson bares breast during half time show
Pop superstar Janet Jackson lost her chest plate during her Super Bowl XXXVIII half time performance, giving football fans an unexpected peep show. It appeared as though singer Justin Timberlake ripped it off as part of the show, revealing Jackson's right breast with a silver star on it. Did someone go too far? Page 1 Lets put this all in perspective. First of all this is a sporting event and I think the half time show in general and all the hype about the commercials is the real crime. Stick to football please. I would rather see highlights form the season or analysis of the first half during the break. Remember, this should be about sports, teamwork and cheering on your favorite team, not selling soda, beer and CD's from corporations who do not care about anything other than making a buck. Secondly, it was only about one second of her breast. I have four children, all of whom have been breast fed, and the older ones and seen my wife's (and many of her friends with kids) breast, while breast feeding many times. It is not that big a deal. I found the song lyrics to be far more offensive than the glimpse of her breast. On top of that, how many of the kids who may nave seen this "horrific event" went to see "Lord of the Rings" and saw hundreds of people get slaughtered on screen. If you are concerned with what our children are seeing, lets start there. Who does this "has been" think she is kidding that it was an accident......it appears to have been very contrived. The entire half time show at the Super Bowl was poorly done, and it is time for some newer acts! (And this proves it)........Another comment, what is up with Jessica Simpson, was that singing or screaming that we witnessed? And why all the crotch grabbing and sexual inuendos. It's not about being a prude or being close-minded. The whole show (including the ridiculous hype about the game itself) is just a sad, truly sad, refletion of how saturated our society is with this stuff. I wish more people were wondering about the intent of all of it. Sure, it's not big deal to see a flash of breast, maybe, but why? I just don't get it. It's just crude and there's way too much emphasis on vulgarity. It's not proving anything except what a sad excuse we are for a society, and much we are d-evolving with the times. You can not innocently go about your day shopping at mega chains, purchasing over produced crappy music, and watching the garbage on mainstream media and then plead the fifth when something like an exposed breast winds up on the most watched tv event. All of you have created this monster, so dont blame it on cbs or mtv, they are just appealing to the 'vocal' masses. Our puritanical ways no longer fall within the lines of western civilization. If the majority of americans want higher morals, then why do we still buy into the dwindling substance on tv, the radio, the news. Denial is a problem and those of you complaining about this have three options. Remain ignorantly out of touch and bitter, open your eyes and realize that this is 21st century america, and finally if you are still pissed do something more productive then complain about it for the next day, and forget about it tomorrow. eric, brookline This kind of thing is routine on MTV. Look at some of the outfits worn at the MTV awards. Half the kids in America watch MTV and see this kind of thing every day. This is just another example of America's prudish treatment of all things sexual. We think nothing of our kids watching the kind of violence in hockey or video games but a little bit of human flesh gets us up in arms. Frankly I think they should scrap the half time show altogether, its liitle more than a distraction from the main event and a 35 min half time is ludacrous. It's pathetic that they had to do something so outrageous and detract from the people/players who worked so hard to get to that night. And, thanks Janet, I'll never buy an album of yours again. Madonna at least was proud when she made out with Britney. She didn't apologize to anyone. Why did Justin and Janet bother trying to make it look like an accident. They ended up making it just look lame.
