Jackson bares breast during half time show
Pop superstar Janet Jackson lost her chest plate during her Super Bowl XXXVIII half time performance, giving football fans an unexpected peep show. It appeared as though singer Justin Timberlake ripped it off as part of the show, revealing Jackson's right breast with a silver star on it. Did someone go too far? Page 15 Just when you thought it couldnt get any tackier... and who was the moron rapper that was grabbin his crotch the whole time he was performing? Chris J, Boston I think it was a bigger shame that all of the artists lip-synched. C'mon, the biggest stage in the world, some of the biggest names in the music world and you can't sing your own songs live? MTV should be banned from future Super Bowls for THAT, not a nipple. Alex, Berkley, MI I think it was disgusting what Justin did. My main reason for saying that is because so many kids were watching the Super Bowl. What a terrible example he is. Thankfully kids can look up to MUCH better men like Adam, Christian, and Mike Vrabel, just to name a few. ;) Congrats Pats! Christine, Boston This is certainly a new era for the USA and not its shining best. The majority of Americans I am sure are ashamed at what is performed "as art" during the halftime show. It's not the breast baring necessarily, but the overall perverted presentation that was and is offensive, and we range in this home from young to older. As to Janet Jackson, no wonder her brother's life style is in question. Their background and life is to be pitied. Carol, Winterville, NC The Half time show WAS not GOOD AT ALL!! It WAS NOT THE FIRST TIME FOR JANET! What goes around comes around! Tom, Foxborough,Ma MTV has been an innovative network that has brought us diverse and entertaining music programming for 25 years. At Super Bowl XXXVIII MTV had a chance to entertain the masses, but instead they went down the same road as they did the MTV Awards. That may be fine for their own network and audience. But a cheap thrill is still a "just a cheap thrill". I guess MTV's network executives and their producers don't have faith in their entertainers or themselves to pull off a good half time show. It's too bad, they had the talent there on stage, but were unable to rise to the occasion. MKO, Dubxury Real Nice Show!!!!!! Haven't seen a good halftime since they took away the marching bands!!! Bernie, Belmont We need to get over our puritan conservatism in this country. It's only a breast. They show breasts all the time in Europe and no one is crying foul. Who cares. Phil, Brighton, MA The performances themselves were the biggest travesty of all. Although I suppose watching a pack of washed-up has-beens shrugging through their acts for the sake of a paycheck is a nice contrast to the tenacity and talent displayed by the athletes on the field. If you ask me, it was definitely planned (why else would she have a star over her nipple?), and it was a crass, shallow attempt to inject needless controversy, distract us from the real reason to watch the show, and get us talking about MTV (so, mission accomplished, I guess. Way to go, people. Classy.) Who wants to bet that MTV News will have an "exclusive" tomorrow about the whole thing? Half time shows have been getting progressively more irrelevant for the last 10 years...I hope in the future they can limit themselves to one "musical" act - if that - and get back to the game. For sure I'm glad that MTV won't be allowed to promote themselves between halves anymore. Justin, Foxboro This was the first half-time show I switched the channel on. I think the audience deserves to see some talent at this event. Bad call CBS.
