Jackson bares breast during half time show

Pop superstar Janet Jackson lost her chest plate during her Super Bowl XXXVIII half time performance, giving football fans an unexpected peep show. It appeared as though singer Justin Timberlake ripped it off as part of the show, revealing Jackson's right breast with a silver star on it. Did someone go too far?

As an arts-person, I could totally see this rehearsed between the 2 of them (justin/janet) for publicity reasons. As a co-worker said, "They did it just for us to have something to talk about today...and the rest of the week!" In addition, isn't it so coincidental that Janet has an album out very soon? Like I've always thought about celebrities, anything to 'stay' in the spotlight: Any controversial news is news and it keeps them from being forgotten.

Being insensitive tto many viewing he families and chldren should not be tolerated. There is no excuse for such behavior. Being shown world wide only lets many around the world realize how decadant we in America have become.

Do these pop-icons really need to steal the spotlight all the time? Please, spare us your childish antics and let the Super Bowl belong to who earned the right to be there, the players.

I hope the FCC investigation into this uncovers that this was planned and these pop-icons are fined along with others that orchestrated this disgrace. Maybe the NFL will wake up and end sending invitations to these pop-stars and change the entertainment during half-time.

Don't get me wrong, I love music entertainment just as much as the next guy, I just see no need to give them airtime that they don't deserve or put them on stage to give them the forum to act like children. Congratulations Patriots! You've far outshined Janet & Justin, ten-fold!!!

The halftime show was nothing but crap. Bad performer selection, with even worse song selection...how old/bad were most of those songs anyway? The breast-baring incedent didn't add anything to the show, it was unnecessary...maybe Justin's way to try to out do the Britney-Madonna kiss?

Maybe next time it would be nice to see something that is actually recent, and perhaps a bit classier as well.

Justin Timberlake? Janet Jackson? We should be trying to figure out how to make these has-been talentless bozos disappear. And we should FIRE the nitwits who hired them for the halftime show. Better yet, get rid of the halftime show along with these washouts. Next Steps: find out what corporate marketing weasel is in charge over there. And fire him/her too! The whole department!!!!!!! What a waste of time and money. Money better spent on sending a man to mars I say....

Like one of the Globe writers noted, if that wasn't staged, then I'm the next Super Bowl MVP! Those half time shows have got to go.

They reminded me of a couple spoiled brats - any attention is better than none - which is probably what they would have gotten for that pitiful show.

The whole half-time show was nothing but pure trash! Between the crotch-grabbing (as one guest at the party we were at said, he learned to stop doing that when he was about age 5), to the S and M costumes, to the whole Justin/Janet thing, it was a huge disappointment. There were about 10 of us at the party and all of us said the same thing...the quality of the half-time show--all of it--- was awful in comparison to years past. All that money and these performers were the best they could come up with? Surely they could have done better? Probably the only decent thing was the marching band which we saw for all of about 10 seconds at the start of the show. A big disappointment.

This isn't about a breast on national television, or being prude.

Parent's are losing more and more ability to screen what their kids watch (some kids watching the superbowl were as young as 5 years old). There is simply no trust of delivery anymore in television.

MTV headlines are forged by demoralizing women to the point of prostitution. The more unsuspecting the viewing audience - the better. There is no question the incident was staged.

The only way to punish MTV is simply don't use them again for the 1/2 time show - but they will creep in somewhere else - The World Series, or the Olympics or something else - so parents beware.

I came away from the Superbowl seeing the finale to the best New England Patriots season ever. Delhomme and the Panthers were worthy opponents.

In a world filled with images of hatred and violence, why is America upset over the partial revealing of a breast?
