Jackson bares breast during half time show

Pop superstar Janet Jackson lost her chest plate during her Super Bowl XXXVIII half time performance, giving football fans an unexpected peep show. It appeared as though singer Justin Timberlake ripped it off as part of the show, revealing Jackson's right breast with a silver star on it. Did someone go too far?

Justin and Janet should both be ashamed of what they did. It was disgusting. It showed total disrespect for public television broadcasting. Apologies cannot change what has been done.

Kim, Former Bostonian

I was offended by Kid Rock's tratment of the American flag, not by a not quite naked breast.

Frank, Amesbury MA

That was real? Until this morning I thought it was just a plastic prop!

I thought the show went too far. I was watching with my 10 year old daughter and was in complete SHOCK when Janet's breast was exposed. It took a minute before I could try to explain to my daughter.

I personally think the Jackson incident was an accident. Just look at the expression on the woman’s face. She appears in shock. But we won’t have to worry about MTV putting on any more half-time Super Bowl shows. The NFL has promised that.

I am outraged. First of all what did the event organizers expect with MTV? I am outraged that millions of young children all across the country were watching this show that evidently was designed for a mature adult audience. This is pathetic. Sex still sells everything. An apology from CBS does not cut it for me. They should have been more cautious to begin with. All the pre-show events and ads and half time show were filled with explicit and implicit sex. As a teacher, I know our children will be discussing this half time show at school. Perhaps I should send them to CBS for answers.

I see more than one Jackson has problems keeping their clothes on with kids around. I am disgusted, but not as much as the lecture tone in the second song she did. 6 of her CD's will be destroyed today at my home

Christian, Clifton Park NY

I'm dreadfully saddened that this event averted my attention. I was fetching myself a cup of tea and a libation at the moment.

It looked a little too planned for some part of the costume to not have come off, but still, I doubt they intended for total exposure just from how angry Jackson looks in this picture. Besides, as much as MTV likes to push the envelope, they knew this was basic cable, I highly doubt they intended for this. Compared to last year though, this halftime show (take or leave exposure, it really did nothing for me either way) was a big improvement from Sting and Shania Twain.

Yvette, Boston

It was obviously planned and in poor taste. This was not the proper forum for such an incident.
