Jackson bares breast during half time show

Pop superstar Janet Jackson lost her chest plate during her Super Bowl XXXVIII half time performance, giving football fans an unexpected peep show. It appeared as though singer Justin Timberlake ripped it off as part of the show, revealing Jackson's right breast with a silver star on it. Did someone go too far?

The half time show has become a circus. Whatever happended to the simplicity of the sport & celebration. It used to be classy.

Oh well (sigh).

Am I the only one that actually thought it was an accident?? I seriously thought that Justin accidently ripped off her costume! I was thinking "poor janet." It wasn't until the next morning that I heard it was staged. I guess it didn't even enter my mind that she would do something like that.

It STILL doesn't make sense to me. I'm a Janet Jackson fan, but what the hell was the POINT of that?

Jackie, Boston

NO I DON"T THINK IT WAS AN ACCIDENT! It's sad that she has stooped so low just to get her name spoken again. True talent wouldn't need that!

keep that garbage out of the super bowl. no real fans care about half time shows. especially when its crotch grabing, no talent rap artists.

I was shocked and disgusted by some of the half time show. Not only the Janet Jackson incident, but the Nelly song "it's getting hot in here". To have children watching what they thought was going to be a football game at 8:30 p.m. on CBS (not MTV) and have someone singing "take off all your clothes" is completely ridiculous. I realize now MTV produced the half time show, but the NFL and CBS should have done a little more homework on the performers.

AI disagree that the average age of Superbowl watchers is 18-25, I'd say more like 30 - 45, and yet they allow MTV to produce a half time show geared toward the younger age group!!!

As for Janet's breast baring - who cares!

It only highligts the type of society we've become where anything goes. We see more bared skin on the nightly cop shows (NYPD Blue).

And we wonder what's wrong with our children....

To all these other people on this board who think Jackson's planned breast-outing was a good thing: I'd like to see your reaction when your 6 and 8 year-old children see something like that and you have to explain it to them. It was filthy and disgusting. This country is on its way down the tubes, and a big part of the reason is because of people like Janet Jackson and the entertainment industry in general.

it was obviously an accident

A lot of today's pop culture is becoming way too sex-oriented! What happened to values? What happened to TALENT? This intentional stunt put on by Justin and Janet, backed up by MTV, was just ridiculous and shameful. Kids were watching the Super Bowl for goodness sakes. It's pathetic that celebrities need acts like this to speak for their careers. What it really does is make them lose credibility in my eyes. We need to avert back to celebrities with real talent, who don't need sexual connotations to prove themselves, like Josh Groban for instance.

Maybe I'm just too old to appreciate the half time performers, but to me it was the most incoherent, confusing, talent barren and just plain bad half time show ever. As far as Janet Jackson goes it happened so quickly there was nothing to see, and isn't it interesting that she has an new disc being released this week (I believe). Just a way to get attention, like the Britteny/Madona kiss. I won't encourage these morons by talking about it any further.
