Jackson bares breast during half time show
Pop superstar Janet Jackson lost her chest plate during her Super Bowl XXXVIII half time performance, giving football fans an unexpected peep show. It appeared as though singer Justin Timberlake ripped it off as part of the show, revealing Jackson's right breast with a silver star on it. Did someone go too far? Page 4 I usually don't watch the half time show as its usually a bunch of no talent chuckleheads. This was nothing more than a publicity stunt for another aging pop princess of mediocre talent trying to keep her name in the press. Nevermind that Janet Jackson's original fan base are now all in their mid thirties to mid forties. We've all grown up and its time for Ms. Jackson to do the same. I think its time to get rid of these halftime hi jinks and focus on the football game. Come on, how many of us tuned in to see Janet Jackson and P.Diddy or Puff Daddy or whatever the heck he's calling himself these days. Marie, Boston Interesting that everyone involved is concerned with appologizing for this 2 seconds of "offensive" behavior, yet a commercial with a horse farting in a woman's face is OK. Chuck, Natick Yes, they did. It was a disgrace to the Super Bowl, the teams, the NFL, the fans both at home and in the stadium, and anyone watching with children. My 6 year old daughter was horrified and disgusted. Janet and Justin should be ashamed of themselves. This was supposed to be a family thing for crying out loud not MTV live. No class! Kelly, Boston, MA With the widespread availability of risque content on the Internet, in movies and on TV, people are concerned about half a boob popping out? I'd be more concerned if I were the agent of such attention-starved so-called celebrities who feel as though they need to do something "shocking" (overstatement) to boost their waning careers. Pathetic, and no one should care about it or talk about it. Who cares? Wait, I forgot Justin Timberlake was there. My mistake. I guess two boobs were, in fact, exposed. Jeff, Brooklyn, NY Forget Janet and Justin. I think the major concern should be the extremely tight security that we heard so much about. Yeah right, a streaker marched right out onto the field without even being stopped. Who's doing the security checks? Allan , Randolph Neither Justin nor Janet is likely to ever see another network tv opportunity. Short-sided and really dumb. Is there no sanctuary on tv anymore from this kind of tasteless behavior? Shame on CBS for being so stupid. Randall, Boston I think the Janet Jackson stunt was inappropriate. Did she forget that young impressionable children were watching the game? Young boys and girls are watching their football heroes with their parents and friends and then they are flashed a breast. I feel sorry for the poor parents that were put in the position of having to explain what it was to their children. Janet Jackson should have known better. We wonder why kids are having sex at younger and younger ages.? Look at what they are exposed to on a daily basis. First it was the inuendo of Justin and Janet and then full on nudity. Jenneth, Boston What do you expect when you allow MTV to plan your halftime show? If you were to ask a pornographic filmmaker if he's interested in making a great film, he'll most likely look at you as if to say "are you kidding me?" We're not talking about people who have an abundance of talent, so of course, when they're considering what to do to revamp their career, they're going to seek direction from the oldest profession known to civilization. "Like a Prayer" was a great song, but how many people can hum madonna's last single? Yet, how many have her kiss with Britney Spears as their screen saver? Did Paul Simon, Van Morrison, etc., ever have to do anything like that? well no, but they have talent. So, as these celebrities make their last ditch effort to exploit their bodies before ending up in a bunk bed with Heidi Fleiss on the Surreal Life, there is really only one question, beyond the hype and speculation, that we should be asking ourselves - do these hacks deserve to share the field with athletes who have worked hard all of their lives to distinguish themselves as the elite few in their profession? For me, that is far more entertaining and noteworthy than some old lady exposing her old lady boob. That's just gross. Paul, Dorchester It is just a boob. I can not see what the big deal is. All girls have them. American needs to not worry so much about a boob and worry more about our men and women you are dying in Iraq, as well as all the people here in the States that are without work and having a hard time feeding their families. Mark, Plainville One poster said (and it seemed to be echoed in a lot of posts), "If you are complaining because your children saw a breast, then I feel sorry for your children." It wasn't that we saw a naked breast. It was that an unsuspecting woman (or woman ACTING the role of an unsuspecting) had her shirt ripped off. One woman at my party said, "Great, now the boys at school are going think it's ok/funny to rip my daughter's shirt off." That's it in a nutshell. It's not that nudity is wrong. It was that unplanned or not, it depicted (sexual) violence/harrassment and humiliation that too many people are going to find funny. And too many people are going to think it's ok/funny to copy the act.
