Jackson bares breast during half time show
Pop superstar Janet Jackson lost her chest plate during her Super Bowl XXXVIII half time performance, giving football fans an unexpected peep show. It appeared as though singer Justin Timberlake ripped it off as part of the show, revealing Jackson's right breast with a silver star on it. Did someone go too far? Page 42 The game was fab, the half-time totally offensive. Certainly not prime time, family viewing. And talk about no talent. Carol, Melrose Oh my gosh, a breast was shown on television. If any one is bothered by this, they are only too uptight. Children in other countries are exposed to breasts on television, at beaches, etc...and they seem pretty normal. Robert, Saugus I think we all would have enjoyed it more if Janet ripped Justin's clothes off... Shar, Boston I thought it was appalling. First of all, it degraded women. The context in which it was performed clearly showed that the "artists" lack any concern the seriousness of violence against women. This act, had it played out on a dance floor, would clearly have been an assault and the fact that the Ms. Jackson, Mr. Timberlack, MTV & CBS promote this treatment is disheartening. Second, the half-time shows have taken away from the pure love and enjoyment of the sport. Why not simply leave the game as it is and save the entertainment for shows like the Grammy's. And third, families were watching this show together. How could they allow such lewd performance to be displayed when families are watching? Anon, Abington Yes, I do believe she went too far and I do not believe it was an accident and was a planned part of the show. They made a wonderful program cheezy by pulling a stunt like that... carol, stoneham I suggest that The Superbowl half time entertainment not be aimed at 18 - 25 year old males only and that it be more family oriented. Janet Jackson's stunt was completely inappropriate for viewing by children. It seems perversion runs in the Jackson family. Very sad. Peter, Cohasset Nah... She's lame and obviously starving for attention. A breast - big deal, but next year get some real talent at half. Remember U2 after 9/11 in New Orleans? doug, franklin ma The whole show was totally inappropriate for the Super Bowl. The crotch grabbing, the bare breast (please, an accident?), the language? This was supposed to be a showcase for excellence in sport and the half time show should support what's good in sport and what's good in this country. It was dark and violent and exploitive. They should be ashamed. Emily, Holliston I was very disappointed by the whole half-time show. The Superbowl is a showcase event for the US throughout the world. Last nights performance would lead the rest of the world to believe that the US is only capable of presenting second-rate entertainers performing pseudo strip shows. In the absence of talent "Let's get naked". CBS was always a station with family entertainment when I was a kid, but last night was lewd and boring. B Keating, Hopedale I like football and most of the trappings- but is any surprise that a game that brings out the most adolescent, childish behavior in *some* adult males is seen as the ultimate crossmarketing opportunity for male "enhancers"- how many parents had to explain to their kids what "erectile dysfunction" was at halftime, and missed Ms. Janet's star-spangled tit entirely? I love the ridiculousness of Mike Ditka pitching ED meds- the NFL's own "Tomorrow" commercial was the best in show- perhaps Mr. Timberlake and Ms. Janet's peep show was simply a Levitra tie-in...
