Jackson bares breast during half time show
Pop superstar Janet Jackson lost her chest plate during her Super Bowl XXXVIII half time performance, giving football fans an unexpected peep show. It appeared as though singer Justin Timberlake ripped it off as part of the show, revealing Jackson's right breast with a silver star on it. Did someone go too far? Page 44 Let's see...Britney, Christina, Beyonce, Pink....all the publicity the last few years has gone to them. Janet Jackson' s been out of the headlines, but does have a new CD coming out soon. Think this just MIGHT have been a set up???? Pete, Phoenix, AZ The actual Half-Time show was awful. Did they chose hte performers based on their teen-aged daughters favorite musicians? At least U2 was classy in 2001-2002. This was raunchy and topped off by the new Michael Jackson ripping off the old Michael Jackson's sisters' top. Nice shot, but not right for TV. The Half-Time show has turned into a circus. Everything during the season should be played out exactly the same during the Superbowl and playoffs. Who cares about Nelly, Timberlake, P-Diddy, Jackson and whatever other thugs they gave us. Mike, Newton I'm surprised at how many responses are focusing on the idea that people are upset merely because a breast was exposed on television. Personally, I find the most offensive aspect to be the manner in which it was exposed. In one section of yesterday's Sunday Globe there was a front page article about activism against date violence. Sunday evening on national TV, we have images of an overbearing Timberlake pursuing Janet Jackson around stage culminating in his reaching over and ripping away part of her clothes. I glanced up at the clock when this happened: 8:45 pm - early enough for kids to be watching on the east coast, and certainly the rest of the country. We have enough violence against women in this country without exposing our children to it gratuitously during an ostensibly family event. That's what I'm outraged about, not the nudity itself. It's things like this that remind me why my family and I no longer bother with network TV. Mark, Watertown i thought this was the worst half time show i have ever seen. as for janet and justin, keep it in your bra for some other show, not for our PATRIOT'S fans of ALL ages. judy judy, walpole mass Compare the halftime show of the Pats last Super Bowl victory to that of this year's. That show was a tribute to those of 911 and a celebration of our nation's response to 911 and it's hero's. This show, smacked of self-promotion and "pushing the envelope" for personal career gain by Timberlake and Jackson (similar to Madonna and Spear french kiss). Sad. I would rather they have moved the tribute to the Columbia crew to halftime than see this trash! Please keep it wholesome and family-oriented. This crap can be viewed in pleanty of other places by those who wish to view it. Why does it have to be on display during our nation's premeir sporting event? Rob Rob, Idaho Falls, Idaho Well that's what happens thanks to MTV and the media destroying the music industry by making T & A and Choreogryphy what sells. The only real musicians where Beyonce and Kid Rocks band. Aerosmiths NASA video looked like a Senior Citizens Medacare commercial. God the're getting old. But at least they are REAL musicians. Janet is a no talent, voice dub over 20 times to get any power in it, Singer wanna be. It looked like lip syncing to me and BAD lip syncing at that. Without studio technology and Brests she wouldn't even make it on American Idol. If you want to stop this kind of talentless crap, stop buying music from the no talent T & A stars of MTV for your kids. Put in a Beatles CD and teach them what REAL music SOUNDS like not, LOOKS like. Paul, Methuen CBS stated that MTV won't produce another half-time show because of the Janet Jackson incident? I agree that they shouldn't produce another show, but on the grounds that the show was horrible. Janet Jackson's breast was the only well-developed aspect of the entire show. John M. Hembree, Moorpark, California The entire half time shows was a poor excuse for entertainment!!!!!From Kid Rock wearing the American Flag, P Diddy grabing his crotch and Janet's Breast. CBS, MTV and the NFL should be ashamed. When did the hllf time show become Barnun and Bailey three ring circus. Way to Go Pats. Michael, Hanover i think that the half-time show was great. I loved sitting at home and watching as some of my favorite artists performed. The fact that people are complaining about Janet's breast coming out is just rediculous. If little children/grown adults can see that part of her body in that slpit-second, that is just unbelievable. People need to just stop complaining and get on with their lives. It's over and we won didn't we?? Tasha, Hancock For this particular venue and show, their actions were inappropriate. Millions of people around the globe are watching this program and were left with that vision. Included in those millions of viewers are children, who watch this game to see their sports heros compete. For some of them, the halftime performers are also their heroes. That kind of action sends the wrong message to children, and exposes them to things that they may never have been exposed to before. The superbowl has always been, and will continue to be, a family event for all to enjoy. I believe that one action that Justin and Janet took may make some parents more cautious to let their children watch the game in the future. It was unnecessary and has caused many people to scramble and feel the need to apologize. Really, it should be Janet and Justin apologizing for making a family show not-so-much for the the family anymore.
