Jackson bares breast during half time show
Pop superstar Janet Jackson lost her chest plate during her Super Bowl XXXVIII half time performance, giving football fans an unexpected peep show. It appeared as though singer Justin Timberlake ripped it off as part of the show, revealing Jackson's right breast with a silver star on it. Did someone go too far? Page 48 It was MTV only worse. What ever happened to the cheerleaders going out at half-time with the band and doing their thing. That would be more American! LESLIE, PLAISTOW NH CBS needs to stop acting. They knew that something like that was gonna happen. For one, they were dealing with an MTV produced half time show; someone is going to be showing skin.. its nothing new. And second, they aren't going to admit to it becuase they want a ratings boost. Jocelyn, Roxbury I think the shock value thing is getting old quick. In this case, the stunt, which was definitely planned, really cheapened an already lacking half-time show. I enjoyed seeing Janet dance to Rythym nation (I used to love that song). Why couldn't the show have ended with that? It was just stupid and it made both Justin and Janet seem cheap. Now they (or at least he) is lying about it. Why can't he just own up to what he did (and MTV too, since I'm sure it was their idea)? It seems that maybe he is not so proud of it. Huh? Or, does he just not want it to hurt his popularity? Bring back U2 or entertainers that more of the adult population would want to hear! Save the trashy stuff for MTV! AJB, Methuen The breast baring certainly was not an 'accident'. I guess what really bothered me was the fact that I saw it as an act of violence in a way. If Janet had done this herself, it would be one thing (not a good message) but . . . - to think that some guy has the right to rip your clothes off - I found that offensive. The human body should be treated with respect. The game was fabulous(congrats go to both teams for that!) but the half-time entertainment - was a dud. If this is all we have to offer, then - the western world better watch out - take a look at history - and see the cause of civilizational decline! Shame on MTV! GIve me back the cheerleaders! b breen, boston, MA Not appropriate for children to walk. Parents should know in advance.... Not acceptable. If this is what the half time show is going to turn into then parents will be shutting off. mc, ashaland What did CBS expect from an MTV production? Seriously, this went beyond entertainment and just what you would expect from the likes of Janet Jackson who will do anything to revive a sagging career. By the way, her career is not the only thing that's sagging. Pat, Norwood, MA Hello... Did anyone notice Kid Rock wearing our American flag as poncho? Is that approriate? Udo, Bellingham Hope that Timber (as in falling) Lake (as in all wet) comes under prosecution by the FCC and, as Tony Kornheiser might express it, "Is prosecuted to the FULL EXTENT OF THE LAW!!!" Pete, England The best part of the halftime show was the college marching band -- what a half-time show should be!! NO THANK YOU for the expose intended to get more publicity for a out-dated star thats want to make more money on her new album. If you ACTUALLY thought this was a mistake, you are the perfect prey for the prank! Go buy Janet's new album! Notice that in the very thought-provoking statements that were made during the show, there was no mention of molestation...hmmmm! I hope a bunch of big executives from MTV are fired and the album flops...but knowing America, they will feed into this, as the media already has, and make her even more wealthy. As a female, I was mad and couldn't wait for the game to start again! MTV thinks we are shallow fools, and by the newspapers and TV reports...we are for getting sucked in! ANDREA, Needham It's just a bare breast. We're the only country in the world where people get worked up over something like that on evening television.
