Jackson bares breast during half time show
Pop superstar Janet Jackson lost her chest plate during her Super Bowl XXXVIII half time performance, giving football fans an unexpected peep show. It appeared as though singer Justin Timberlake ripped it off as part of the show, revealing Jackson's right breast with a silver star on it. Did someone go too far? Page 55 I was shocked and dismayed by the halftime performance. It was an appalling display to say the least. Why did Justin only expose her right breast? I would like to have seen the left one too. I am outraged. Mike, Southie I thought the lineup was terrible, Kid Rock? And Janet is way past prime. At least she didn't have "Free Michael" written on you know where! Bill B., Weston I heard that Jackson and Timberlake planned the whole this but neglected to tell the station. I think this went WAY too far. I really wanted to see the rest of the show. Too bad SOMEONE messed it up! Laura , EastBridgewater I think the absolute worse should have been expected when it was announced that there would be a "twist ending" to the halftime show, especially with MTV in charge of it. We are amidst the MTV generation, and to them, sex sells. In fact, I was almost positive that there would be some sort of "revealing outfit" in the performance. We see these sort of things on MTV all the time. What's to make us think that they won't try this on another station? Sergio , Boston The entire show from start to finnish was offensive. Why aren't they making a big deal out of the the crotch grabbing, sex and drug references that Kid Rock, PDiddy and Neli made? And let us not forget the half clad gyrating women surrounding them. Can entertainers please stop trying to shock us, it is boring. holly, Andover My sister and I watched the halftime show and would not have even known about the baring of Janet's breast if my boyfriend and the rest of the guys in the house didn't tell us. I don't think it was as bad as half of the crap we watch on everyday television. If anyone should be embarrassed about this, it should be Janet. Mariann , Medford First, I don't see the need to trash Janet Jackson. Maybe it was an ill-advised stunt if it was intentional, but the truth is she has had a fantastic career as an entertainer -- and that's coming from someone who doesn't even dig her music all that much. More to the point, I don't understand why one bare breast for .5 seconds on television (that was mostly obscured by a piercing) is somehow worse than ad after ad after ad for drugs to treat erectile dysfunction, or Nelly grabbing his crotch 50 times in a 45 second performance. Second, the halftime show was annoying, but that's because MTV is annoying. Tell us something we don't know. I don't understand why halftime shows have to cater to the lowest common denominator of ADD in the world. Seems to me that one, good, current, live act would be better than a six-act medley of Now That's What I Call Music volume 27 that was so chaotic I thought I was going to have a seizure. CBS should be apologizing for Josh Groban, by the way, not Janet Jackson. AJ, Boston In all fairness, I'll have to see it again to know for sure. Please put the video and some still pictures up on boston.com. PSF, Portland, CT Forget about the cheap exposure, the whole thing was offensive. exactly what demographic were they targeting with the whole rap halftime show. I was at the game. The fans were sittin on their hands the whole time. The only reason it seemed like it was load was because they let thousands of Houston kids in at halftime to surround the stage and get excited. (bit of irony, this is how the streaker got past security, nice touch and much more entertaining than Janet Jackson!!!) Advertisers were ripped off as those who buy products and most who watch the Super Bowl don't listen to this crap nor want to be enlightened by MTV's idea of exciting and "shocking". Tom, Braintree I don't think it did, she had a pasty on, covering almost the whole nipple. It really wasn't as bad as people say it was.
