Throwing some wood on the hot stove

Have you heard the latest buzz about the seemingly dead Manny-for-A-Rod, Nomar-for-Ordonez blockbuster deal? According to several fan message boards, including sonsofsamhorn.com and bostondirtdogs.com, the official team sites of the Red Sox, Rangers, and White Sox all changed their flags at the top of their sites within an hour of each other at about 2 a.m. today, removing images of the aforementioned players. Spooky! Conspiracy! What do you think is going on???

Nothing.

Pat, Hopkinton

I frankly think its a good thing. This "deal" got so out of control because of the intense media coverage, that people became disillusioned to it. Now, the respective managements can pursue their "deal" in the privacy of their own arena. Besides, Theo stated on a NESN pregame show, last season after the Kim trade, that if he made every potential deal available to the media, nothing would ever go through because the Yankees would always try their best to thwart any effort. Perhaps he's following his own advice.

that is some weird stuff

Huh? I thought I already got traded to Texas, I bought some cowboy boots last month.

Manny, Boston

I think there's alot going on behind closed doors. I still think that John Henry and Mr. Hicks will strike a deal. ARod still wants out of Texas, Red Sox don't want Manny anymore and Nomar wants more than the Sox are willing to give him.

Gary, Danvers

There's only one thing to conclude: people simply have too much time on their hands. Last time I checked, there wasn't a baseball game scheduled for close to another four months. It's one thing to follow the Hot Stove, but come on...

Ryan , Providence, RI

The person or persons who found this need to get a life. Obviously the public Hot Stove chatter was hindering this deal. So it may be smoldering below the surface. When or if it happens, it happens. Frankly, we're OK if it does not. On another note--it was great to see Gammons (a.k.a. the Commissioner) come out publicly against Pete Rose and the Hall.

Steve, Westford

Can't we postpone the pointless Red Sox blather until after the Pats win the Super Bowl?

Tim, Watertown

ITS GOING TO HAPPEN...right after the Pats win the Superbowl...oh wait...they are going to win it all again!!!! GO PATS!!!!!!!!

Mike, Manchester, CT

The deal was never dead. Hicks and Lucchino just wanted to slap Orza in the face before they finally pulled the trigger. This deal will happen within 2 weeks.

Rich, Topsfield
