Throwing some wood on the hot stove

Have you heard the latest buzz about the seemingly dead Manny-for-A-Rod, Nomar-for-Ordonez blockbuster deal? According to several fan message boards, including sonsofsamhorn.com and bostondirtdogs.com, the official team sites of the Red Sox, Rangers, and White Sox all changed their flags at the top of their sites within an hour of each other at about 2 a.m. today, removing images of the aforementioned players. Spooky! Conspiracy! What do you think is going on???

I'd like some of the stuff being smoked by the people who think that these teams would actually change their websites to remove photos of the players before ever formally announcing the deal. Then again, I don't want the same stuff , because if I smoked it then I'd start thinking the Mars Rover photos were taken in some guy's basment in Peoria, Illinois instead of being taken on Mars....

Everyone wants this except the union. It's not dead, its not going to die, not until the deal gets done or until the World Series when ths Sox win it all!

Mike, Hingham

This trade will happen. BUT i doubt that the first person to catch wind of it would be the pasty 5ft tall computer geek in a basement on yawkey way.

If you refresh your browser enough, A-Rod is on the Red Sox site in a Devil Rays uniform

a.) The RedSox.com is put together by Yawkey Way, not MLB. b.) At first I thought that this was all just a coincidence. Then I figured, if the deal was really dead, the first thing the red sox should try to do is mend the fences with Nomar and Manny. And the first step to do that wouldn't be taking them off of the team's homepage and replacing them with a knuckleballer. It leads me to believe that this deal never was dead, it was just dead to the public eye and the media, something in which both sides would rather have. Don't believe evrything you hear Boston.

Bob, Boston

I think that the teams submitted this request in December when the trade was on the brink, and only now is the slow, lame MLB webmaster taking action. He'll switch it back in two months, when he takes action on the next request. DON'T GET MY HOPES UP AGAIN!!!!!!!!

Not sure what some of you guys are looking at... I see Pedro, Tek, Ortiz & Schill on the banner. Manny & Nomah were there yesterday.

Let's get with the football instead! The Pats worked too hard for us to be discussing this nonsense the Wednesday before the playoffs!

Andrea, Boston

if it's in the works, good... that's the way business should be conducted (in private)... and if it happens the sox will be better for it... having manny isn't quite as embarassing has having terril owens or joe horn but let's put it this way, manny wouldn't play for a belichick coached team.. the 2003 sox were a patriot inspired club and that's the truth... go pats

No disrespect to Nomar Garciaparra, but just make the damn deal already -- Nomar's a great player and as a huge fan, he'll be missed, however too much damage has been done for all sides -- and the deal benifits everyone -- especially the Red Sox.
