Have you heard the latest buzz about the seemingly dead Manny-for-A-Rod, Nomar-for-Ordonez blockbuster deal? According to several fan message boards, including sonsofsamhorn.com and bostondirtdogs.com, the official team sites of the Red Sox, Rangers, and White Sox all changed their flags at the top of their sites within an hour of each other at about 2 a.m. today, removing images of the aforementioned players. Spooky! Conspiracy! What do you think is going on???

I think...that MLB runs all of the sites, and probably makes updates to all of them around the same time. If your team was just trying to deal one of its players - successfully or not - you probably don't want to have that player being seen as the symbol of the team... The Sox did yet another smear campaign on a star, tried to convince all of Boston that Nomar didn't want to come back anyway...if he's gone after this season, no real point in having him be your public face...

This has got to be the most futile attempt at grasping for straws. Seriously just because the flags on these websites have changed, means this deal is done. Come on, I refuse to believe anything until I see, it. This deal is Dead period as far as I am concerned

The Rangers and White Sox have no such banner on their sites. The Red Sox do and Manny and Nomar, along with Petey, are the ONLY players on this banner. This is as of 1pm. I am surprised to hear that folks would talk it up so much without checking. I suppose it is possible that the Soxes and Rangers are monitoring these boards and decided to change it back. But somehow I think it is more likely just more fanning of the flames. Relax, Pitchers and Catchers report in a little more than a month.
